Srimad Bhagavatam Recommendation
Here’s a link to the Srimad Bhagavatam book that was recommended to me by Madhva. It contains all 12 cantos.
It took me almost 2 years to finally read this book. But upon reading it, I was shocked at how certain “SECRET TEACHINGS” some popular spiritual gurus proclaim to have are discussed in it. I learned that the best way to avoid being taken advantage of, is to go to the source myself. Western students can benefit tremendously from reading it. Being one myself, as a newbie I was misled in many areas. So I found satisfaction in finding accurate guidance in the source, and this further solidified my confidence in the course.
In the linked copy, there’s mention of yoga practices such as pranayama, information about the subtle body, guidance for grihastha yogis and even the importance of ancestral obligations etc. Topics that one may often seek answers from a Guru about.

There are two types of translation of Srimad Bhagavatam. One is a bare translation which is not concerned to modify the text by superimposing other favorable or unfavorable religious process. This is that type of translation. The other is specifically designed to use the authority of the Bhagavatam to underwrite a supportive or corrosive religious process.
