What is Samadhi and How to Develop It

This is the first of a series of retreat talks given at Empty Cloud Monastery in New Jersey. As such, the information is detailed and relevant to actual practice. The link below is for the 1st of five talks given on higher consciousness.

    • There is a playlist of about 20 talks given at this retreat at Empty Cloud Monastery. The link to the entire list doesn't copy. For those interested, you can just find the playlist by looking for:

    • If anyone has taken care to listen in some detail whatsoever, I'd personally appreciate one or two or any point they care to highlight/share here.

The topic "What is Samadhi and How to Develop it" is too critical from the standpoint of any practice to not get into the weeds, if possible and given the opportunity.

Thanks in advance for any contribution ?

      • Surya, I’ve only listened to the Higher Consciousness 1/5 video. I may get to the playlist eventually, little by little. I hesitate to highlight talks such as these. There’s an energy transmission that comes from the speaker, that would vary according to where the listener is in his/her practice. I would just say: Take a chance on it. There might be just one statement in the entire talk that might be important to your practice or maybe several. . And we all would probably hear it differently. Retreat talks are the best because they’re geared towards intense practice, working towards the final goal. But don’t feel bad if you’re pressed for time. What you need will come to you. And these talks are only beneficial if one has confidence in the presenter and the lineage. I share them here when it seems like it would be helpful for any serious meditators. I hope you are doing well!

      • Marcia, Thank you for your reply. I take your point, it is understandable.

I very much appreciate your well wishes. It’s good to read from you and see that you are deepening your practice, as well as continuing to be an inspiration.
