Video/Photos Disappear

I gave a friend a memory card recently. He went to the Alamo in Texas, took several photos and videos on a tour there and was excited about it. Later when he tried to access the media, he got error messages.

Finally he came to me, crying about it. I said that I would look at the camera and memory card. At first I removed the memory card, took some shots with the camera using its internal storage. These were visible both on the camera and in a computer when the camera was directly connected.

I determined that the camera was working just fine.

This was a new camera which I presented to my friend but he was suspicious of it. This confirmed that the camera was in working order. I then took the external memory card and inserted it into a computer. There were many jpeg images and some mp4 videos but they all were using o kilobytes of space each. I explained to him that his photo information was not present on the memory card. The card was either defective or incompatible with the camera.

Later I took the card and reformatted it using a computer. I then tried it in another camera and it worked just find. Or course his photos and videos at the Alamo and elsewhere were not there. Due to the format of the memory card, somehow it did not record any pixel data. Once my friend understood this, he began to lament saying that he posed before the Alamo and elsewhere and took pictures on a river boat. He sincerely regretted the defective card.

It was then that something flashed on me.

So I said to him,

“What about the memory card from any past life, say for instance the most recent one. Your mind took so many still and moving pictures f that. Can you show that? Have you ever cried about that or complained to Nature or to God even about those missing memories?”

I then recalled a verse from Bhagavad Gita (my English translation):

श्रीभगवानुवाच

बहूनि मे व्यतीतानि

जन्मानि तव चार्जुन ।

तान्यहं वेद सर्वाणि

न त्वं वेत्थ परंतप ॥४.५॥

bahūni me vyatītāni

janmāni tava cārjuna

tānyahaṁ veda sarvāṇi

na tvaṁ vettha paraṁtapa (4.5)
