He was concerned with the surface aspect of it, where by instinct the white bodied people focused on white.
Consider:
Why white flour?
White paint for houses
White dresses for weddings even used by non-white races
Nature majority color for flowers: White????
White moon
White the most brillant color in terms of reflecting sunlight (except silver/gold)
