US Administrations & The Plight of the Rohingyas

donald-trumps-election-will-only-embolden-myanmar-its-genocide-against-rohingya

Click above for article / Below are excerpts:

..."Most of that international pressure came from President Barack Obama, who has even visited the country twice during his presidency and was more outspoken about the fate of the Rohingya than any other head of state in the world. And as far as I can ascertain, that pressure has been the only thing that has driven Suu Kyi to even engage with the issue, inadequate as that engagement has been to date."

... "Often described as "the most oppressed people in the world", the Rohingya Muslim minority of Myanmar may well be on their way to being the victims of a genocide" ...

"China does not care about the fate of the Rohingya, Russia does not either, and now neither does the new administration in the United States." ...

My comment:

That goes without saying. The political Trump modus operandi is the same as that of other Western far right movements that have been gaining ground and national populism, since its remission back during Fascism, and the likes. It is a similar situation in Myanmar, the democratic consensus is about oppressing minorities if that will flatter the sentiment of nationalism.

According to Wiki, this minority is just about 5% in Myanmar, but they are Muslim and viciously persecuted by the Ultra-nationalist Buddhist majority.
