Story of My Life

Long version:

Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday,
Christened on a stark and stormy Tuesday,
Married on a grey and grisly Wednesday,
Took ill on a mild and mellow Thursday,
Grew worse on a bright and breezy Friday,
Died on a gay and glorious Saturday,
Buried on a baking, blistering Sunday.
That was the end of Solomon Grundy.[9]

Short version:

Solomon Grundy,
Born on a Monday,
Christened on Tuesday,
Married on Wednesday,
Took ill on Thursday,
Worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,
Buried on Sunday.
That was the end
Of Solomon Grundy.

    • As a little boy growing up in St.Lucia, I used to hear this story all the time. Never quite figured it out.
      • human life is fleeting

does not even last one week

        more like a moment

the whole thing is a flash

Bacteria are born, mature, reproduce and die in just hours

And we are no different but our sense of time is warped to believe that our lifespan is more than a week

        • Thanks for the explanation. It's almost like in In Yogic Deeds of Bodhisattvas, where Aryadeva says: Those who are born only to die And whose nature is to be driven Appear to be in the act of dying And not in the act of living.
