Sensual Slipway
Sense control is a hot topic among yogis, devotees and other tryps of transcendentalists. It is regarded as a standard requirement for success in any type of spirituality. It is blamed for the downfall and lack of psyche control of the ascetic.
The bright idea is that a yogi should control his sensual quest and sensual appetite so that he is not moved to action merely by the promptings of the desire for some type of sense grasping and eating. This idea is based on the presumption that the willpower of the individual can and will checkmate any prompting of the senses.
This would mean that the psyche is wired so that on command any sense will abandon its quest or involvement with a particular sense object.
Such an idea is mostly a blank proposition because the proof to support it, is just not there. If there is only one single instance, when a self gives a command, and that request is ignored by any of the senses, that is sufficient to prove that the willpower is a fragile element, which may not control a particular sense, when that function operates to contact, and consume some object.
The truth is that the willpower for all it is, may be ignored by the senses. The big question is: Why does the senses ignore certain willpower commands?
The answer is:
The senses are designed to seek and procure specific objects, regardless of if the coreSelf feels that the said objects are detrimental to the psyche. The design of the senses is the challenge.
Merely applying willpower to stop a sense from its unwanted activity, will not change the design of that sense. Even if for specific incidences, the willpower command is obeyed, still, a sense will resume its unwanted behavior because it is designed to act in that objectionable way.

The Kundalini and it's senses are more powerful than core self.
The evidence is there are times where Kundalini can knock out the core self unconscious when Kundalini rising to head and also in everyday's sleep, Kundalini takes control of the body and puts atma into quasi-rest or full deep sleep.
And atma has no idea about all the aspects of Kundalini operations during sleep or in waking condition when it constantly repairs and runs body operations.
That shows where jivatma is in relation to nature and the paramatma and other great atmas in relation to nature in extraordinary control over their Kundalini and their nature. Eg: Krishna, Buddha, etc.
The one way is to escape from this dimension and to phase out the atma from a trapped design with Kundalini and senses. But when one loses touch with higher dimension, one will be trapped in body and again revert in the old design with Kundalini and suffer from promptings.
The other way is to change the Kundalini design of senses and rewiring with atma's subtle channels to senses thru sense of identity to the permissible limit of each atma's existential status with direct or indirect support from paramatma like Shiva, Vishnu, Buddha, etc.
Limited atma or jivatma will take time to rehab itself, the Kundalini and the senses over decades to change the rogue behaviors, not an overnight thing.

Therefore a pertinent question for the inSelf Yogin(is)
The devil/challenges are in the details when it comes to sensual withdrawals technique(s), such that:
• One requires valid technical instructions from a bonafide source, teacher, or manual, one that is accepted based on the transmitters’ standing achievements and results, not empty faith or vain hope.
• One adopts such practice based on faith and hope of already experienced results from one’s own applications.
• One develops greater self-honesty and comes to a realistic assessment of one’s possibilities and expectations, leading to the understanding of a timeline of progress, of the evolving relationship between one-coreSelf and its reliant sensory system.
• One sees the need and importance of a deep dive into the process of psyche purification. That essentially might be the greatest support or clean path to sensual withdrawal.
• One then understands the benefit of a tedious, long-lasting, and extensive, as well as gradual application of said purificatory processes coupled with the genuine fear or concern for the creation of future additional sensorial dependence or aggravation, which constitutes the adhesive material for stronger bondage to the surrounding externalities and their allure or enjoyment.
