Science Defined

Perhaps the best way to define science is to define what is not science or what poses as science but does not meet the definition;:

Sometimes a practice or a belief claims to be science, but does not follow specific criteria. Criteria that define true science include scientific experimentation, replication of results, and peer review. Beliefs and claims that do not meet these criteria are called pseudoscience.

We should also not mix science and scientific theory.

If we have a beef against science as it is presented by establishment scientists, we should check to see if we are using their products and conclusions to rile against them.

Consider this:

I acquired a Winchester rifle to kill Mr Winchester, the inventor, with it. My whole point was to prove that he was a shithead and that he never made such a rifle in the first place. It was a fake weapon. But still I killed him with it. I felt good about it because I got rid of that asshole. The world is a better place now because no one could invent anything to kill another person, and he claimed that he did.

In the definition above, which is from this page:

All beliefs and claims are not discredited. It is only the one which were not subjected to and meet scientific standard. One can have a valid belief or claim which was not or cannot be subjected to scientific method.

My publications for instance are full of my beliefs and claims which were not subjected to scientific method and that does not make them invalid. The idea that a belief or claim is invalid because it was not subjected to scientific investigation is nowhere given in the scientific community. They say only that until it passes scientific method, it is not regarded as science.

Why then are people up in arms about science?

Why do people want their ideas to be regarded as science?

That I cannot tell but I can say this. There is reason to envy science because they have established credibility for themselves by giving humanity machines and gadgets which solved many ancient problems. For instance the long standing chore of clothes washing, now done by machines. Take for instance the long standing perplexity of fire and how to use it. Science brought that into homes. No longer is fire such a great god of humanity simply because it was not available at the flick of a switch or the scratch of a match.

Credibility???

How to get that?

What practical product can I give to humanity to make myself a credible whatever?

And this is why I neither envy, rile against or even want to be regarded as being scientific!
