Naad Push

Srila Yogeshwarananda asked me to mention the technique of pushing naad to the front of the subtle head. Naad is usually located at the back of the head, right or left side. When the core-self becomes totally absorbed in naad it lose contact with the buddhi analytical orb. This is an achievement. The yogi is required by Patanjali Mahayogin to keep away from the buddhi analytical mechanism, so as to be free of at least four of the five vritti operations.

However Patanjali indicated that later when the yogi achieved the segregation and is consistently free of the influence of the analytical faculty, it should resume a relationship with the analytical faculty.

How to do this?

It is not explained in detail in the Yoga Sutras. Yogesh wants to develop a way of doing this re-establishment of a relationship with the buddhi intellect, a method which is tested and which takes the student to the point of being able to use the divine eye.

The whole point of shutting down the chittavritti mento-emotional operations is to develop the divine eye, to shut down the imagination faculty which reasons and presents conclusions, so that it can begin to operate in its highest mode as a divine perception.

Initially the student must reach the stage, where when he or she sits to meditate, there is no activity being done by the analytical orb. It should be silent. It should not be produces images. It should not be producing ideas. It should not be demanding the attention of the core-self. It should not be forcibly attracting the core-self. There should be no polarity attraction between the orb and the core-self.

When this consistently happens in meditation, day after day for a time, then the student should come to realize that the buddhi intellect needs the attention of the core-self. However instead of the intellect demanding or attracting that attention from the core-self, the attention should be forwarded to the intellect by the core-self of its own accord, without it behind force to do so, without it being lured into doing so.

When the core self can do this for a time , then it should take the step to gather the energy of naad in the back of the subtle head and forward that energy up to the intellect which in the frontal part of the subtle head. This is a very soothing practice. It is not filled with excitement but it is soothing.
