Higher Dimension Penetration
The big event for a yogi is the penetration into the chit akash sky of consciousness. How is that done? Can a yogi merely by desire reach that bliss-saturated place?
There are however levels of existence which are below the sky of consciousness but which are sublime nevertheless. Can a yogi transit to these places, even?
The instinctive desire is to become aware of and then to penetrate into a higher zone. That is the brute force willpower method. Unfortunately due to the lack of responsiveness to a yogi’s desire, higher realms usually do not give access.
Upamanyu Rishi and Yogeshwarananda explained to me that the best way to gain access to a higher world, is to develop a compatibility to that place. In their views, that would cause the energy from the higher place to fall like ample rain into the psyche of the yogi.
The reasoning for this is that if a yogi upgrades his energy, so that its vibrational content is on par with that of a higher dimension, there will be energy exchange such that energy from the higher level penetrates the psyche. That will give access to that higher plane.

Even though a yogi may ardently want access to higher realms and even though he/she may endeavor in meditation and other recommended practices, still we find that the higher levels do not yield access to the yogi.
A few yogis were successful at desiring and then gaining access but most of the students are unable to get that. This means that those levels are unresponsive while the physical plane seems to welcome the yogi with open arms. -

I do not say that one should not practice, it is like Achilles and Turtle paradox where yogi is Achilles and Turtle is liberation.
Achilles has to use all his skills (sadhana) to be able to (prepared to receive) catch turtle (liberation).
However, one ultimately needs Gods intervention to catch turtle :).
