Lord Shiva and Devi are known together in one body as Ardhanarishvara (Sanskrit: अर्धनारीश्वर, Ardhanārīśwara). This is considered to be particular to India deities and to be special as androgynous divinity. Science however is removing much of the mystique of much of our beliefs and superstitions to the chagrin of some devotees. How about insects which are androgynous:
