Flash of white light during practice
Last night during practice, there was a point when I was in rooster pose (completing the practice session), when I saw this flash of white light about 2 inches long on the lower right side of the body (close to the waist). During that split second that the flash occurred, I also felt this very sharp intense pinch at that same location. It was so forceful, that it force the physical body off from the rooster pose into an upright position. To say the least, it frighten the hell out of me! and left me wondering what the heck happened.

It was energy inflamed or caught afire in a nadi in the said region. When this happens, if one can, one should focus into the place where it occurred to determine if to spread it further or to compress it in on itself. However it is a good sign, if the you are having these flashes in other places besides in the spine and head of the subtle body. It proves that kundalini potential is in every part of the psyche not just in the spine and head of the subtle body. The focus on spinal kundalini is preliminary. As one practices, one will branch out to other regions and will be able to realize nadis and energy compression and explosions in other parts. -

Thank you for the explanation. That helps to understand what occurred. But how does one compress the energy in on itself? -

I was also looking forward to finding out more, and eventually the post got buried under. So I figured I will bring it back up… ...For me it is as though the body becomes a boa constrictor, so I clench the body. It happens instinctively for me (I think) because it is my defense for not falling out. Sometimes, even before the energy bursts I tense up, defensively. And it may not be overpowering after all, fact I wouldn’t know beforehand.

To compress the energy on itself, you would mentally and emotionally pressure the energy to fold in on itself, like clamping down on it from all sides or from various angles which it is trying to escape from.
At first one cannot do this but what will happen is that one will find that when doing kundalini yoga, sometimes in a small part of the psyche somewhere there is a burst of energy which is so small that one can easily control it with a mental or emotional squeezing action.
Then one should squeeze that to its center and keep squeezing it until it reaches a stage where it bursts out. In some cases pushing up or pushing down will also cause some energy lumps to move here or there and when it tries to move if you block that mentally, it will then compress in on itself.
This practice begins with pressuring down from the navel down and then pushing across from the groin area to the base chakra. Instead of just physical locks, it will transform into mental locks.
Please note that I missed your inquiry before and just noticed it because Surya decided to deal with this and it was on the top of the list. In the future please send me an alert if I do not reply to an inquiry. Thanks!

So, I experience cell kundalini in different parts of the body, irrespective of performing the rooster procedure. In practice today, the energy started in the middle of the chest and quickly felt like globes of concentric waves, as when a stone is thrown in the middle of a pond. It went all the way to the extremities as it fizzled out.
I am mentally present as much as possible before the energy bursts, so my attention was quickly gathered at the center of the chest and observing as I mentally tried to cause or influence the energy to collapse on itself.
Physically I maintain the locks and even intensify them if needed. As the energy subsided I attempted but failed to engage any force of an emotional nature. I would like to know if at my stage it is possible to have an idea of an emotional pressure (or lock?).

No at your stage, keep doing what you are doing and then in time, it will develop further. Like watching children grow. Well your son at five is wondering if he can grow a beard like his dad. What will you tell him? -

Certainly Swami, I want my only anxiety to be just about furthering practice.
