Death Transition
The only part of existence which we are sure of is this part where we find ourselves to be a material body which is tagged by society with a certain date-of-birth and approved name. On November 28, 2017, I saw a friend in the astral existence. He is deceased which means that for him everything is a subtle body. That is his total identity as compared to me, with subtle and physical bodies. I have at least one identity which is static and permanent, at least for as long as the physical body lives.
In a conversation, my departed friend commented on the transition from being primarily a material form to being only a subtle one. He said this:
“The mystery of death may not be solved for most people merely by dying. This is because in the death transition process there may be gaps where one loses awareness, loses observational power, becomes a blank existence, where one cannot know exactly what happened because one was not aware during certain existential shifts.
“I cannot remember everything that happened during the last living moments of my physical body. I cannot recall anything about how I became just a subtle existence. Even now that I am on the subtle side fulltime, there are periods where I have no register of myself as an individual being, Then there are period where I am an individual being and am conscious as a self.
“It seems to me that nature robs the person of the required objectivity. It does not allow one to observe the changes from one state to another. One is left with so much lack of experience of how this existential situation is altered and maintained. My guess is that only through deep meditation can one fathom this.
“Imagine being transported from one country to another but being moved while under anesthesia. How could one describe the journey if one is unconscious during it? Imagine that one is awake in the first country. Then one falls into a deep sleep or enters a coma. Then some days after one awakes in the new country. How is one supposed to explain what happened”?

It can be played back but only by recording equipment which recorded it not by any which was disabled at the time. In this case the limited person’s recorder was disabled. Therefore he could not record it. Some other agency or person who had recording equipment working might show it to him or might see it. It could be retrieved in that way.
There is a verse in the Gita, when Krishna says tht he is the self in all the psyches but that the limited self is the self only in that limited person’s psyche. This means that the Supreme Being (Krishna) is able to record everything happening to each of the limited selves but those selves are very limited in what they can know about themselves or anyone else. This brings to fore the meaning of being God, as to who is God and who is not due to innate limits.
I had an experience once with a great yogi, who entered into my psyche and read some things in my memory which I at the time could not read or access. This is similar to certain files in a computer, where even if you could reach the folder where these files are located, you still cannot open those files and see anything coherent which you could make sense of. But a software professional might open those files and read them and make sense of the information easily.
