Death Exit

Yogeshwarananda gave a process which can be used by a yogi during the last stages of life of the physical body. This is for those who aged gracefully and will soon leave the body. He said that there are three notices given to a yogi. These are death exits.

He said that the first one comes when the yogi experiences major health problems in the body. The main one of these is heart failure. There might me other major glands which fail for the yogi. Noting that is the first hint that the physical body will definitely be unavailable.

This event should cause the yogi to focus harder to be whatever will be left after the physical body. The yogi should focus on that more astutely and with determination to depart as that when the physical body dies. Whatever that person will be without a physical body should be recognized by that person. He should focus on that in meditation more and more so that when the physical body is no longer available he is not lost or confused about the remnant which exist hereafter.

The second notice comes when there is lifeforce downward shift, where the yogi notices that the threshold of functioning of the body is lowered drastically, where he cannot do what he used to do with the body. For instance there might be a nervousness in the body, so that he cannot hold anything steady with either hand. Or there might be a consistent shortage of breath and a resulting lack of energy in the body, so that he cannot do anything strenuous and must at all times act as if he is in slow motion. He requires assistance even to stand up or to sit down.

At this stage he should consider if this condition will continue in the astral dimensions hereafter. Will the remnant person be in that condition then? Or will it resume its active energetic condition. In meditation he should determine this.

The third and final notice is when the body is so short of energy, that it must remain reclined. Everything requires great effort and even with effort and application of willpower, some things cannot be done by the body.

This is the exit stage where the person will find that he can kill the body or cannot figure how to kill it but has to wait for it to die to be freed from its incapacitated condition.

Those who can kill the body will have experiences where the breath is soft and incomplete but where on the in-breath or out-breath, he can easily stop the breath actions, so that the heart ceases beating.

This is practiced by the yogi and if he can do it, he can kill the body. If he practices and finds that he cannot restrain the breath rhythm, then he should resign himself to wait until by due process of time, the organs fails and the body dies.

If this happens while he is conscious, he should resort to whatever advanced meditation procedure he mastered. If this happens and he is unconscious, he will realize it when he regains consciousness or awakens from astral sleep. Even then he should resort to whatever meditation procedure he mastered previously.

He should try to reach higher dimensions if he mastered methods before death of the physical system. He should try to reach either deceased or living yoga teachers whom he has a relationship with.

I got this instruction from Yogeshwarananda on February 11, 2016. I had a feeling not to record it. I also felt that perhaps there was some other instruction would be given at a later date. However two days later, I got an email from a yogi friend who stated that he has a cancerous condition which was life-threatening. I felt that I should write and publish this as it may be relevant.

      • Muz Murray Having undergone an instant death experience at the hands of an inept doctor, I would say that disorientation is the major issue when one finds onself in an unfamiliar enviroment with no idea how the transition took place and no memory of where you came from. It is like suddenly becoming conscious in the middle of a dream in a strange landscape.

Michael Beloved Muz Murray, That is exactly how it usually occurs. Hence it is important that now while the physical body is useful, before we willingly or unwillingly depart from it, we should know what will be left of us, if anything at all, on any level, even subtle or supernatural levels. And we should focus on ourselves being that only and minus out stress on the physical part of the current identity as well as any subtle part which will disappear because of the breakdown of the physical system

Tommy Duclos Thank you Michael. Prior to volunteering at a Hospice in the Bronx, this book was recommended to me, and I have found it quite useful. The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche. Although I am not a Buddhist , I do practice Kriya Yoga and find the insights and exercises on dying useful when comforting and listening to the wonderful patients I encounter.
          Peace and love
