Cost of Desires

Desires are such that they eat up one’s very life. This is regardless of if such desires are fulfilled or frustrated, liked or disliked. The first desire must be that of survival. Soon after that is secured other needs come into play according to the life form the self emerges as.

An example is flowering plants, which begin as stems and leaves, and which over time produces flowers. The plant keep pushing itself to reach the sun. After the flowering stage, its motivations for growth subside until it no longer grows. What it was, whatever it is, whatever it will be, becomes compressed as a stunted growth or even as seeds?

Then again if the conditions are favorable, life is demonstrated by it again, as new plant growth. This happens by the one force of desire, which is experienced as urges for manifestation.

Desires are such that they consume the purpose-energy of the being. This is regardless of their fulfilment or frustration.

Where is the self in this?

Does the self independently create desires?

Is it induced to indulge the desires?
