Confidence in the Material Body
Each creature is awarded a for-sure confidence in its material body. This gift of nature is a life-saving but it is also life-distorting. To survive as this material body, one has to identify with it, either voluntarily or involuntarily. But this strong identification blocks the understanding that one is not the body. It shadows out any objective realization of what one would be if one could not identify with the physical form.
Being something other than the body’s social role does not free the self from acting as the body or from mimicking the body’s actions. Saying that I am not the body and being proud of that, feeling that I am superior to someone who identifies with his material form, does nothing to make me factually know that I am something other than the physical system.
I may have some theoretical information from Bhagavad Gita about not being the body and yet in my day to day affairs, I may act as if I am nothing but my material body. This is due to the fore-sure confidence which nature endowed into my psyche about being the creature form, which in this life, I found myself to be.
When whatever is left of me, is forced to realize that there is no physical body and there is just psychic energy remaining as myself, I will then miss the body because all along I placed the majority of my confidence in being physical.
Is it possible to shift that confidence now while the physical form still lives?
Will nature help in this effort?
Will it award a for-sure confidence in whatever I am which is not the physical body?
