Fact. This is what happens when you take away any ability to enforce environmental laws. What may appear to be pro-business (de-regulation) in the short term turns out to be anti-business, anti-civilization, and anti-life in the long term.

It is possible to ask if Material Energy is allowing human species a usage of the intellect organ that is more aggressive or accelerated, in a way that is more deleterious to his environment than his true core sense of responsibility is evolving; towards a position which can allow reflexion and wisdom.
