Chit Akash Inaccessibility / Kundalini’s influence
Srila Yogeshwarananda gave some important information for those yogis who want to connect to the chit akash sky of consciousness, the transcendental world. An advanced yogi does from time to time reach or sees into the chit akash transcendental energy world but only rarely. The contact usually last for seconds only. Hardly does it last for say three minutes. It is more on the order of one to three seconds.
Yet such a short experience causes the yogi to want to be ever connected to the chit akash. A yogi struggles in meditation to achieve the connection but to no avail, except that infrequently he will connect off and on, during meditation practice, having no definite method.
To arouse the sleeping kundalini on a daily basis, one needs only to learn bhastrika/kapalabhati pranayama and learn how to apply locks (bandhas) but to reach the chit akash is not that simple.
I worked with Srila Yogesh on a method which will produce results in reaching the chit akash at this time in history. This is considering the current cultural and social situation from which a yogi may make the effort. What can be done if one lives in the modern civilization with its challenges? For at least some five years now I was working with Srila Yogesh on this, trying various methods, some his suggestions and some my own methods.
Once I was given a method by Sri Lahiri Baba, who said it would work in a matter of five months. It did work in that time but only with split second access, not continuous contact for say even three minutes.
It seems however that I have a method. I can report on having found a method. It is real easy and simple but all the same, it is not. The basic steps are:
· Do a thorough session of bhastrika/kapalabhati pranayama breath-infusion practice so that every bit of energy from the subtle body is flushed out such that all stale subtle energy in the psyche is replaced by fresh subtle energy? Needless to say, this is a very aggressive practice.
· Sit to meditation. There should be no gap in time between the end of the breath-infusion session and the meditation.
· Check to see the energy flow in the psyche. This is a check on the energy generated by the breath-infusion. Note the state of the energy.
· Retreat to naad sound resonance in the back and/or side of the subtle head. Dwell on naad resonance deeply. Shut down the tendency to see and only use the tendency to feel and hear naad. The tendency to see is not vision. It is the tendency to have vision. Shut it down so that the interest you have is only in the hearing and feeling tendency. Remain in this condition for some time.
· Soak the self into naad sound. When you are sure that you are saturated in naad, check to see if you are distracted at any time. If you get distracted take the action to reconnect with naad sound resonance. This may happen repeatedly where you are in naad, then you discover that you are not in naad, then you wonder about that for a few seconds, then you realize that you should reconnect to naad. The instruction is for you to remain in naad. This will happen over and over again repeatedly. You note where you are when you realize that you are not connected to naad resonance. This location of where you are when disconnected from naad is vital to this practice. Please do not indulge in not knowing where you are. As soon as you realize that you are no longer connected into naad, you should immediately make a location check so that you know the location where are in the psyche at that time. Move from that location to the naad sound resonance. This is a painstaking repeat practice to relocate the self into naad sound with knowing where you found yourself when you discovered that you were disconnected from naad.
· The location where you discover yourself to be disconnected from naad is the location where the core-self has to be to see what the intellect presents to it. This is an important location to note because it signifies connection with the intellect. For this practice disconnect with the intellect is vital. There is disconnect with the intellect and simultaneous reconnect with the naad sound resonance. Full absorption with naad means that the core-self is no longer in the location where it connects with the intellect. Any time during the practice when the self discovers that it is in the location to connect with naad, it should note itself there and immediately return to the place where it connects to naad.
· Once the self is used to this process of being in naad, then discovering itself as being relocated without its permission, in the place where it becomes automatically connected to the intellect, the self should meditate for years even to master staying in naad, and to master relocating to naad automatically when it finds that it was shifted to connect with the intellect. It will take many meditation session before the next progress can be made. Please be patient with yourself and not think that the next step will happen quickly. For some with good lick it may but if it does not, indulge me your confidence to keep meditating for days, weeks or years. Lahiri Baa once told me five months but that proved to be incorrect for a steady progress into the next stage. Hence I cannot guarantee any time span for this.
· During some meditation, the yogi will realize that suddenly ahead there is a window in time in the subtle head, where he sees into another dimension or sees a light or sees people inside his head in silhouettes or in astral forms. In some perceptions he will see as if he sees through a window or as if he sees these apparitions inside his subtle head. In rare experiences he will see a light which is outside the psyche or see a silverish energy outside the psyche, as if he is in a capsule looking out a window into another world. From that place there will be a contact with frosty micro-pixelled bliss energy. This is the chit akash sky of consciousness. These experiences will be infrequent for most yogis but for some, these will be regular in each deep meditation though they will last for seconds only.
· Now for the final part of this practice: Remain in naad while opening the interest in seeing. Previously this interest in seeing was shut down. Now it should be opened while one is in naad sound resonance. This would mean that three interests are opened, that of feeling, that of hearing internal sound and that of seeing internal light. Keep the feeling and hearing interest open but open the additional interest of seeing. With that interest you will perceive light. It may be like light in a mist or light glowing under a cover. It may be light glowing in every direction. This light may be dim. Absorb this light. Have confidence in this light just as you developed confidence in naad sound resonance early in this meditation process. Absorb this light. This light is partially the chit akash light shining through the psyche.
· Train the self to be happy with this light. In that happiness there may be frosty bliss feelings which are neutral energy. Keep training the self to be happy in this light. In some meditations there will be a sudden transfer to a higher plane whereby one will see into the chit akash for seconds or minutes.
· A yogi will find that even from these states, he discovers himself transferred to the place where there is an automatic reconnect with the intellect. When this happens, he should again shift himself into naad and do the meditation as described.
· There will be a realization that even though the self finds itself with the intellect the actually cause of that shift is the kundalini psychic lifeforce. The intellect and the core-self are influenced by the lifeforce so that the core-self is shifted from naad sound resonance and from partial chit akash into a hypnotic trance in connection with the intellect. This happens as soon as the breath-infusion effects reduces. That is how important it is to do a thorough breath infusion before one does the meditation. If the psyche is not sufficiently energized one will not reach partial chit akash and if one reaches it, one will not stay in it for a long time but only for a flash.
