The suggestion about the meal would be a form or a primitive form of dharana and dhyana practice not pratyahar.
Pratyahar is when the sensual energies are withdrawn and contracted into the central energy of the person with no interest running out to anything even to a desired focus.
Dharana and dhyan is the exercise of focus to a desired object, place, environment without going to any other thing.
