Yogi ~ Survival Impulse
There are many gifts of nature which contravene the purposes of yoga. A yogi should discover these, and one by one, leave them aside. Punk yogis feel that whatever is not good for yoga should be eliminated. Their understanding is that some aspects of this life can be made to disappear if only everyone would agree that these features are self-destructive. This view is childish. It begs for insight into the reality of material nature with its huge arsenal of traits of behavior which it will bring into manifestation sooner or later.
Material nature is unstoppable. That a yogi should know.
Animal security, which is securing the well-being of the current creature form, is a gift energy of nature. It is not always calculating for the long term but it functions automatically and does not require any input from the observing-self in the psyche. The kundalini life force psychic mechanism manages the birth, growth and decline of the body.
What can the observing-self say about what it has done for the birth of the body?
Or for the body’s growth to maturity?
Puppy love is a gift of nature, where even the animals indulge and treasure it. That too is not created by or managed by the observing self even though that self is subjected to the ups and down of social relationships which are based on bodily affections.
A yogi should agree to leave aside the sense of security and the creature-affection energy. He (She) should never get this idea that these energies can be eliminated in his psyche or in the psyche of others. It is packaged in every life by nature. It cannot be removed by any agency, not even by supernatural energy. What a yogi can do is to shift his (her) attention away from it and place that interest on some other aspect.
Agree not to use the survival impulse and its defensive psychic apparatus but do not feel that you can eliminate it, because you do not have that authority.
