Yogi ~ Insecurity Set-Back

A yogi may be affected by the insecurity of others. That is for sure!

There is no such thing as a person who is never affected. It is a matter of getting non-affected to a greater percentage and to be in realization of being affected when you are. But this word you is a big word full of confusion.

What is affected in a person’s psyche?

To what extent is it affected?

Can we always determine the extent of the affects by observing a person’s physical behavior?

Of course not?

Arjuna also inquired from Lord Krishna about how to know the spiritual practice of some person. Here is that verse:

अर्जुन उवाच

स्थितप्रज्ञस्य का भाषा

समाधिस्थस्य केशव ।

स्थितधीः किं प्रभाषेत

किमासीत व्रजेत किम् ॥२.५४॥

arjuna uvāca

sthitaprajñasya kā bhāṣā

samādhisthasya keśava

sthitadhīḥ kiṁ prabhāṣeta

kimāsīta vrajeta kim (2.54)

arjuna — Arjuna; uvāca — said; sthitaprajñasya — of the person who is situated in clear penetrating insight; kā — what; bhāṣā — description; samādhisthasya — one who is anchored in deep meditation; keśava — Keśava, Kṛṣṇa; sthitadhīḥ — one who is steady in objectives; kiṁ — whom; prabhāṣeta — should speak; kim — how; āsīta — should sit; vrajeta — move; kim — how

Arjuna said: In regards to the person who is situated in clear, penetrating insight, would you please describe him? Speak of the person who is anchored in deep meditation, O Keśava Krishna. As for the man who is steady in objectives, how would he speak? How would he sit? How would he act? (2.54)

~~~~~~~
A yogi may become insecure or more insecure if he or she is in association with others who are afflicted by insecurity. Thus it is important to keep a distance from an insecure person. If one has to associate with such a person, one must be willing to do some practice to reinstate oneself to the higher level.
People who have doubts about the practice of yoga, who are inquire of it but who question about it to find fault with it, may pull a yogi down to a lower plane of consciousness. In fact some students may be abandon the practice while they are under such negative influences.
But if one has to associate with a doubtful person, then one must accept that as fated for the time being. One should make a plan about how one may reinstate oneself in the practice firmly.
By all means one should shield the self from negative influences. But if they do penetrate, then one should be diligent about removing them by even more practice.
