Work/Reward Influence
In the material world, where these physical bodies are acquired, there is a work/reward conditioning which reinforces attachment to this place, so that one cannot break from the routine of transmigrations, which is the tendency to take one physical body after another.
And what happens if there are no physical bodies, say, for instance, if the physical cosmos is demolished?
Then one waits until another physical system emerges as a new cosmos and in it suitable physical habitats are created. This might take millions or billions of years, but that time is of no consequence because one’s awareness will resume its subjective-existence-only feature, its bare non-objective self, such that one will have no idea of the length of time which passes, even if it were eons. Why would it matter if a man went into deep sleep and did not awaken until some billions of years after? It would make no difference to him if he had no idea of the time lapse. He would merely resume his activities and pursue the pleasures which he procured formerly.
Have you never found yourself in a dream where you acted as if you were always in that place, even though you were not, where you forgot the earthly life as well as about the loved ones which were on earth and who did not accompany you to that other dimension?

The work/reward proposition is perpetual in material nature. It is saturated through all species of life, including the highest species of which we are a part, the human race. Each of us was, is and will be conditioned to work and then achieve a reward. This is so endemic in nature, that it is endorsed even in work which is anti-social such that we see nature gives opportunities to vicious persons based on their endeavors in the present or past lives.
If a ruler works hard to develop dangerous weapons, nature may give him the opportunity for conquest, even though his actions will bring untold misery to others. This is embedded in this creation. Even though it is unwanted, still that does not remove it from the creation.
Prisons are created to disable people who are socially corrosive to a particular society according to the definition if proper behavior by the persons who have political control. These prisons suspend the work/reward lives of the prisoner for the time being.

In meditation a yogi may see the work/reward energy and make a decision to transcend it, to step away from its influence. He cannot remove it from this creation but he may remove most of his submissiveness to it.
This is done by first observing the work/reward energy operating in the psyche. It is operating there unobserved. Thus the first step is to notice it. The second step is to notice that it sponsors rebirth, such that even if the yogi does not want to transmigrate in physical species, he will have to so long as this tendency for work and reward is prominent. His will power, his mental or emotional desire cannot superseded it. He will desire liberation but he will not achieve it if the work/regard energy is in operation.
Regardless of whether one is consciously aware of it or not, it operates and does so efficiently and effectively.
The realizations in meditation which begin the process of dissolving the influence of the work/reward energy are that:
· The work impetus is a continuous stream of subtle energy.
· The rewards presentations of nature are a continuous stream of subtle energy which is different to the work inspiration.
When seen from deep meditation, there is no connection between the work-inspiring energy and the reward-response internal energy which one may enjoy. However in the lower levels of the mind, it appears to the observing self that these two energies are inter-related. This appearance is irresistible such that the person is bewitched into thinking and feeling that he should work in a particular way and then be positioned to derive a favorable result thereafter.
The investment of the interest of the self into this work/reward system is the promoter of transmigration, such that it sets the stage for mandatory rebirth in some species of physical life in the near or distant future.
Since the work/reward flows of energy cannot be terminated by any being, certainly not by a limited being, not even by the supreme being, the yogi’s only effective action would be to extract himself from its bewildering influence such that even if his form has to participate in the work/reward drama, he will not invest acute attention in the flows of compulsion and he will remain resistant to being bewildered by it.
