Transit from Sleep to Wakefulness

There was a message left in my psyche by Srila Yogesh about research into the wake-up spread of kundalini energy. This is a special kriya which is used in advanced meditation to pilot the kundalini’s normal arousal system to other parts of the body besides the spine and brain.
As it is configured, the kundalini operates a wake up procedure by first pulling the astral body back into the physical one, where the astral one synchronizes into the physical one and the person wakes up as his or her social identity on the earth plane.
Usually none of the species, even the humans, make note of this transit from astral to physical. Usually what happens is that the person is out of it, is asleep, and then the person is feeling partial wakefulness, then full wakefulness, not taking note of the transition between the sleep and wake states.
In this kriya the procedure is simple:
As soon as the yogi feels awake even with very little objective consciousness, the yogi should slowly sit up in bed. Eyes should be kept closed. Back should be propped if necessary to relieve any sitting strain.
The yogi should then look down into the trunk of the body by directing the attention down into the body while the physical eyes are kept closed so as not to generate any interest in the external environment. Here the interest is restricted to the internal mind-feelings environment.
The yogi should then sense out the energy which is rising through the trunk of the body into the brain. This energy comes in waves in slow motion. It is barely perceptible but there is a likelihood that the yogi will perceive it through psychic sensitivity.
Each wave of this energy which enters the brain will cause an increase in objectivity, so that the person will experience increase in physical awareness and perception as each wave of energy passes into the brain of the physical body.
There will be less and less drowsiness and more and more wakefulness until it reaches a point where the person feels as if there is full awareness. On occasion, the person may have to stand up and move around before this full awareness occurs.
===============
Once this is done repeatedly, the yogi should take the conclusions drawn into meditation practice to study the source of the waves of energy which rises through the trunk of the body and goes into the head.
What is the source of the energy?
Is it all pervasive?
Does it arise from a particular location in the body?
How does this energy cause the increase in objective perception?
What is the subtle body’s involvement in this?
Does the subtle body get drowsy when it is in an astral projection?
Does it sleep?

Physical body goes through a series of changes and then ends.
What guarantee do you have that the same will not happen to the subtle body?
Suppose it does, then what will you study ?
On what will your focus shift to ?

MiBeloved's Reply:
I am a component which is within the subtle body and which voluntarily and involuntarily participates in its operations. The same holds for the physical system, except that in the physical system, I am a distant component due to super-subtlety.
Electricity is there in a moving car but still you cannot physically show the electricity as a physical component, but it is a subtle component which contributes to the overall operation of the vehicle.
If I ask you to show me the signal which causes a voice sound in your phone, you cannot pick up the signal like you would a wire and show me, and still we accept that the signal is a component. I state this just in case you get any hair-brained ideas to ask for proof.
As a component, I have the opportunity and I am in a position where I can study either the physical or subtle body. For instance in any car there are components but most of these are there without gaging any of the operations. There are a few components however which measure the movement of the car, like the speedometer.
In expensive cars, there are sensors which can tell the driver the state of the rpms of the engine, the cooling of the engine and so on. So in a sense these gadgets are investigating what is happening as the car is moving. In the subtle body, I am doing some observations like that.
You can say that I am an observing component in the subtle body.

MiBeloved's Reply:
The part about shifting the focus if the subtle body ends is a very bad question. I will not deal with it because it is based on the assumption that I will be existentially capable of doing something if that happens. This is not a solid assumption unless you can provide some evidence to support it. (Evidence not theory).
As I am positioned right now shutting down the physical body for good is enough of a problem and an enigma, what to speak of the subtle body? So many things happen that I have no control over, cannot stop or start and cannot alter even in the physical existence which is obviously tangible, so the premise about that degree of control in the subtle body is a hairy scary proposal. I am not a New Age dreamer, so I won’t deal with it.
However here is what I can say:
The subtle body will definitely come to an end. The physical system ends after 100 years or so, give or take a few. The subtle body ends after millions of years, when the subtle energy (prana) which it lives on fizzes out completely. The subtle body also has temporary suspensions of its existence even before its final end. At these suspensions, a limited self like myself might lose consciousness for millions of years and then will again become conscious when the suspension comes to an end.
There is no way that I can assure anybody how I will survive that as a subtle body. Someone somehow from a divine world could take me out of this situation but besides that there is no chance for absolute control. It just is not there now. It was not there in the past. It won’t be there in the future.
Right now my plan is to ditch the subtle body before it reaches its end. If I can do that then I would be in a divine world where the possibility of termination of a body is non-existent.

Satyajit’s Response to answer one:
Your idea of a component capable of observing is interesting. However the analogy makes no sense.
Reason: No component of the car is capable of observation.
Satyajit’s Response to second answer:
You say: "You can say that I am an observing component in the subtle body. "
Then you say :
"The subtle body will definitely come to an end"
Therefore it means you come to an end when that happens.
Where will you be then when it ends ?
But then you also say:
"Right now my plan is to ditch the subtle body before it reaches its end"
Contradiction !
If you are a component of the subtle body, you cannot exist independent of that !
You said "The subtle body ends after millions of years, when the subtle energy (prana) which it lives on fizzes out completely."
How do you know this ?
Satyajit,
I assumed you were on one of those monthly sleeps like our other brother, Kumblakarna. Where were you when we needed your valiant postures, your militant expertise, when the non-yogis were beating us to a pulp?
Without your sound reason, logic and hair-splitting diagnostics we would be a lost cause.
Anyway, it is better late than never. Join in the fray and help us to save our face.

MiBeloved’s Response:
I am sorry you cannot apply the analogy to a sentient being. In that case, then I rest my case.

MiBeloved's Response:
Yours is a fragmented conclusion. The end of a container is not necessarily the end of all of its contents. Some of the contents may continue existing even after the container is destroyed.

Satyajit:
Where will you be then when it ends ?
MiBeloved's Response:
At the end of the subtle body there are four options left:
1. Transfer to the causal plane without objective awareness
2. Suspension of objective existence
3. Transfer into the brahman effulgence which surrounds the divine world
4. Transfer to a divine world

Small minds cannot expect to make head or tail of a paradox.

This is way over your head Satyajit. Best to leave these ideas along until you evolve some more. This will cause you a migraine if you persist in poking your nose into higher meditation.

How do you know this ?
MiBeloved's Response:
This is known by doing advanced meditation where one reaches the causal plane and in there one can see how the subtle universes come into existence and are then de-existed again.
This is also known objectively by pranayama breath infusion, when the subtle body’s frequency is increased, where at a certain point it flashes is no more due to reaching a stage beyond its manifestation potential.
This is also known by doing higher meditation and going back into time to the epoch before this manifested creation, when this material which is called the universe was not in existence, where there was a blankness where this universe currently is located.
These Verses are from Yoga Sutras Chapter 3
Verse 27
भुवनज्ञानं सूर्ये संयमात्॥२७॥
bhuvanajñānaṁ sūrye saṁyamāt
From the complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy in relation to the sun god or the sun planet, knowledge of the solar system is gained.
Verse 28
चन्द्रे ताराव्यूहज्ञानम्॥२८॥
candre tārāvyūhajñānam
By complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy, in reference to the moon or moon-god, the yogi gets knowledge about the system of stars.
Verse 30
नाभिचक्रे कायव्यूहज्ञानम्॥३०॥
nābhicakre kāyavyūhajñānam
By complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy in relation to the focusing on the navel energy-gyrating center, the yogi gets knowledge about the layout of his body.
Verse 35
हृदये चित्तसंवित्॥३५॥
hṛdaye cittasaṁvit
By the complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy as it is focused on the causal body in the vicinity of the chest, the yogi gets thorough insight into the causes of the mental and emotional energy.
Verse 36
सत्त्वपुरुषयोरत्यन्तासङ्कीर्णयोः प्रत्ययाविशेषो भोगः परार्थत्वात्स्वार्थसंयमात्पुरुषज्ञानम्॥३६॥
sattva puruṣayoḥ atyantāsaṁkīrṇayoḥ
pratyayaḥ aviśeṣaḥ bhogaḥ parārthatvāt
svārthasaṁyamāt puruṣajñānam
Experience results from the inability to distinguish between the individual spirit and the intelligence energy of material nature, even though they are very distinct. By complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy while focusing on self-interest distinct from the other interest, a yogi gets knowledge of the individual spirit.
Verse 44
बहिरकल्पिता वृत्तिर्महाविदेहा ततः प्रकाशावरणक्षयः॥४४॥
bahiḥ akalpitā vṛttiḥ mahāvidehā tataḥ
prakāśa āvaraṇakṣayaḥ
By the complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy which is external, which is not formed, a yogi achieves the great bodiless state. From that the great mental darkness which veils the light, is dissipated.
Verse 45
स्थूलस्वरूपसूक्ष्मान्वयार्थवत्त्वसंयमाद्भूतजयः॥४५॥
sthūla svarūpa sūkṣma anvaya arthavatva
saṁyamāt bhūtajayaḥ
By the complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy, while linking the attention to the gross forms, real nature, subtle distribution and value of states of matter, a yogi gets conquest over them.
Verse 49
ततो मनोजवित्वं विकरणभावः प्रधानजयश्च॥४९॥
tataḥ manojavitvaṁ vikaraṇabhāvaḥ pradhānajayaḥ ca
Subsequently, there is conquest over the influence of subtle matter and over the parting away or dispersion of the mento-emotional energy, with the required swiftness of mind.

From Manish on LinkedIn:
There is no death of Subtle body .. there is transformation. The upper part can detach when it no longer require the lower part of body. For example someone is vibrating at higher dimension, and qualifies completely to remain there, then the lower shells will depart from upper shell. The lower departed shells will still stroll in universe for some time. We got not only multiple bodies but also have different copies of self in different realm. Everyone exists in different space/time all the time, without being aware of existence in different realm.
There are planes beyond the astral planes. There is existence beyond the universe.
===================
MiBeloved’s Response:
The subtle body is not a spiritual form. It is perishable just as everything pertaining to the manifested material world is perishable and this includes the subtle energy in it that becomes manifested to the subtle senses of the subtle body.
The subtle body is as good as the sun and as the sun is not eternal, so is the subtle body.
The spirit lives in the environment of the subtle body, the way the electricity in a battery lives in a cell phone. Because it is transcendental to the subtle body, the spirit will not perish when the subtle body is finished. It will continue existing.
However such existence does not necessarily mean that it will be objectively aware of itself. It may or may not be.
Listen carefully to what I am going to write now, because you have some transcendental experiences and you should be able to follow this.
In the material world (prakriti) there are actually three bodies which a spirit can have. These are the causal body, the subtle body and the material body. As you suggested the subtle body has phases. This is correct. But it is still lower than the form used by a spirit when it is on the causal plane. So what is that causal form? It is an indistinct form which means that from where we are now, it is an indefinite form. It has no distinct end or beginning, no membrane like a skin.
Below that causal body is the subtle body which is actually produced from the influence of the causal form. That subtle body is made of sheer energy but it has a membrane which is like a subtle skin which can in certain phases of the form be completely transparent like the skin of a jelly fish.
There will come a point in the future where all subtle bodies in this solar system will be finished because the energy which forms the environment where the subtle body functions, those dimensions will no longer be manifested due to collapse of the subtle energy (prana). This is the end of the astral world.
That will happen in billions of years, which compared to the 100 or so years of a material body, is an eternity, but it is a finishing point nevertheless.
Now beyond the causal body, there is the bare spirit, with no assistance or support from the prakriti.
So then the spirit gets to know what it really is but only if it can retain objective consciousness. If a particular spirit is in a category where it cannot retain that, then it begins to exist then in what the Upanishads terms as brahman, but it does so and it does not know that has occurred. There it exists in the sat feature with no chit or ananda perception.
In other words, I do not have to know that I exist to exist. I can exist without knowing it. I can be conscious without being objectively aware of it.
This brahman place is sheer spiritual light but not the light like from the sun which is subtle pranic energy. This is another type of light, spiritual light. In fact such light, if you were to go to it and view it, will appear to be darkness because of the inability of the physical and subtle senses to perceive it.
So in that light whatever is there, the spirits, the environments everything is divine, meaning that it is not perishable. It is infallible in respect to time and decay.
In physics there is information about radioactive substances which will survive without breaking down for thousands of years and then these will break down slowly, and we have the sun which has from our view, an unlimited supply of subtle energy, so from that we can surmise the possibility of a divine world where the shelf life of everything is eternal.
