The End

At the end of the life of the physical body, which we know to be the self, no agency of any human being can stop the body from dying. Even with the technology today, we see that despite the best insurance providing the best medical treatment, still the body cannot be made to persist.

Christianity flashes the idea of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we take that at face value, it would mean that he was the only one to do that, and that all others have no immediate access to that. One may cite the case of Lazarus who was reconfigured into his dead body which was reawakened by Christ. But in that case, there is no statement which says that Lazarus did not die after or that he was resurrected. It merely suggests that somehow (miraculously) he became aware of himself as his physical body.

But the modern medical folks do that on a daily basis as well. Thus, it is not much of an achievement. If you are brought back to life after an accident or terminal disease kills your body, what does it matter if the medical people do it or if a preacher’s magic does it?

At the end of the life, looking back at the events which happened, one will realize that one has to face death alone, just as one had to face other circumstances. Hence the investment in family, though praiseworthy pans out to be of little value in the end. At that time, one may get the wits in order and determine what will happen. Questions may surface in the mind like this.

Where will I go?

Who will I be?

Is this the end of my destiny?

Despite my social services, still it appears that no one can lift a finger to help me.

My predicament is dire!

My wife, children, friends and others, none of these can extricate me as I am squeezed out of history.

What is next?

Is there a hereafter?

Why did I not research this before, being that in moments, days or weeks, I will be no more as this body?
