Tendency To Doubt
I observed some thoughts as they were rapidly produced by the intellect. These thoughts were influenced by a doubtful energy. I questioned whether these thoughts were warranted and contemplated the events that may have stimulated them. Some of the questions put forth were as follows. What causes doubts to arise? From where do they surface? Why doubt this person, or that thing? What is the use of this action? What value does it bring? Could it be that it is just a means to conceal one’s insecurities? Is the act of doubting necessary?
As I inquired about this, thoughts flashed that “doubts may stem from one’s inability to locate a reference to a particular experience.” Being doubtful about oneself, an experience or information related by someone else, is involuntary and plain annoying in my experience. Doubting the teacher comes with consequences. For one may miss the opportunity to assimilate the teachings and/or discoveries related by the guru and even a fellow yoga student.
I jotted these notes down a few months ago as the intellect carried on its usual shenanigans. I did not think of it as meaningful to share. Earlier this morning, I decided to read a few pages from Yoga Invision 1 as I sought inspiration to practice. Recently, I have been lackadaisical about the practice. As I read the first few pages, I came across the following lines which inspired me to share my previous tussle with doubtful energy. It was a reminder of the attitude I should cultivate to benefit from association with advanced beings. Please see the paragraph below:
Excerpt from Yoga Invision 1 by Michael Beloved
“Readers should note that everything will not be explained in these journals. I will explain much but not every detail. I do not always inquire of everything from astral yogis. My interest is to receive instructions, not to query. I am confident of their recommendations. If you have a tendency to doubt, or if you are in the habit of asking questions, restrain that urge. Realize that you can take this information as is. If you need more, intensify the practice and contact superior yogis for assistance.”
