Sleep Impulse Identification

Gautam Buddha show me a sleep impulse identification procedure which was used by him during meditation when he used his last material body. This allows the ascetic to gage the strength of influence of the sleep impulse to know if it is weak or strong, and if it will prevail in that meditation session or not.

This procedure does not show what the sleep impulse is but it does gage its power. A similar experiment may be constructed to see the power of gravity over a physical object and still the person would not know what gravity really is or how it is created and maintained, except to say that it comes from the weight-center of the earth’s mass.

To do this practice, the yogi must have already sorted the core-self from the intellect so that he can know where the core-self is located in reference to the intellect and also know that the core is surrounded by a sense-of-identity which carries out the psychic operations which are voluntary or involuntary willpower acts of the core.

In meditation, the yogi should send out a willpower focus towards the intellect but should not allow the focus to actually touch the intellect. It should be sent out towards the intellect but it should stop short of actually making contact with the intellect.

Once this action is completed, the yogi should lift the willpower focus upwards. It will be like lifting a knife blade or an emitted forceful gas flame.

As this lifting action is done, the young should gage if it is easy to lift it or if there is a resistance which makes it difficult to lift it. If the resistance is so strong that the he cannot lift the focus, he can know that the sleep impulse expresses a very powerful gravitational force which means that it is predominant in the psyche and the meditation will be a failure for the most part.

If it is easy to lift it, the yogi will know that the sleep influence is negligible, which means that there is little sleep influence to overcome.

A yogi should also note if he is able to remain with the focus lifted or if he becomes hypnotized by the sleep impulse where by during the lifting focus, he finds himself to be overcome by the sleep impulse so that during the lift, suddenly he finds that the focus is lowered even below the intellect.

He must lift it again to move it upward, to resume the practice.
