Secrets of Buddhi Analytical Orb
To gain conquest over the components of consciousness, the core-self has to first realize itself as just one of the components. Then it has to analyse the situation and discover what the other aspects are. And it does not matter if this is all abstract. It has to be dealt with if one is become a siddha, to say the least.
In discovering and reforming the buddhi intellect orb, the yogi must first deal with the grosser element which is the kundalini lifeforce. Because of sexual pleasure, the lifeforce is easy to pin down while the buddhi organ is much subtler.
Provided the yogi gets some relative familiarity with the kundalini through doing kundalini yoga using breath infusion, he can when he reaches an advance level in that practice, turn to the issue of the buddhi analytical orb.
There is no question of becoming liberated if this orb is not brought under full control. Some claim that their deity/God will do it for them automatically and they do not have to do the yoga austerities to attain the proficiency. This is fine with me because my interest is in the tight control of the orb, not to argue over means of accomplishment. I am using the ashtanga yoga means but all the same, my eyes are open to recognize anyone who can achieve the proficiency by any other method, whether it be visualization, blank meditation, chanting of mantras, worship of physical deity form, having devotion to a deity, believing in a guru or whatever.
The first part of dealing with the buddhi intellect orb according to Patanjali is to stop is normal activities. These are listed as right analysis, incorrect analysis and imagination. If a yogi can put his foot down on this, if he can get his foot on the throat of the analytical orb and force it cease these three activities, then he would be doing yoga according to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Someone, or the yogi himself, has to get the buddhi intellect orb into a death hold and hold it there until it agrees to do what it is told, which is to give up its normal mode of operation. This must happen at least during the meditation session and also it should happen during other times when the yogi notices the organ misbehaving.
In the beginning of yoga practice, the core-self is like the child and the buddhi intellect orb is like a parent directing and controlling the child. But later after some proficiency is gained, things go into reverse, where the core-self is like the parent with the disciplinary authority and the orb is the child with the compliance feature.
In that situation there will be times, when during normal activities, the child or intellect will make indulgent suggestions to the parent or the child will pilfer something sweets from a shop when it is with the parent. The parent must be sensitive enough to realize when the child attempts to break the righted lifestyle.

Once the buddhi orb is retracted and its freedom to indulge in sensuous experiences is curbed, the yogi should again closely study the orb. This is because mere starving the orb of its enjoyment is not enough. Anything which has a dietary need must be fed even if such a thing or such a creature is kept penned up.
If I put a tiger in a cage, I must feed it regardless. It may not seize animals once it is caged but still it has to be fed and I cannot feed a tiger a basket of apples. It will not eat that. I must acquire meat for its diet. I may decide to reform the diet of the creature but that must be done with certain limitations. For instance I cannot feed hay to a tiger. I cannot make it into a vegetarian.
Since I restrict the animal, making it impossible for it to kill other animals and eat their bodies, I have in effect increased my task because now I will have to kill other animals or have someone else do so, to provide the animal with meat.
A similar situation happens to the yogin when he brings the buddhi intellect orb under subjugation. He is left to figure out how he will provided energy to the orb. Starving it of energy for a time is okay but that will not work for all time. He must feed it in some way or the other and with materials which it can digest. He cannot feed it any and everything no more than a tamer can feed a lion leaves from a grass plant.

What is the food for the buddhi analytical orb?
Can you guess what it is?
Suppose I ask you about the main food for the physical body?
What would you say?
Rice, Beans, meat, fish, milk, soybeans, water, air, Coca-Cola, marijuana, liquor?
~~~~~~
This is not an examination to certify you as knowing anything.
The food of the buddhi intellect orb is sensations. Here are some Sanskrit words:
- Jnanendriya
- Chiti
- Sparsha
- Chaitanya
- Vedana
- Anubhuti
The one and only food for the buddhi intellect orb is sensation. It eats that anyway which way it can get that. Unfortunately for us, it usually gets that from the untamed kundalini lifeforce mechanism which is an unruly adjunct. It is for this reason that the kundalini must first be curbed before one masters buddhi yoga or the psychological discipline which causes a core-self to rigidly control its intellect.
But you say you do not have to do kundalini yoga to control your kundalini. That is okay. I am not concerned with your method. Provided it works in fact; I am happy for you.
As nature would have it the kundalini operates independently without consulting the core-self and so does the buddhi intellect orb but the buddhi because it is reliant on sensation and must have that to live. It is blackmailed by the kundalini such that the buddhi intimidates the core-self into cooperating with the kundalini’s plans.
Once the yogi brings the kundalini under control, he is just about done with conquest of the buddhi intellect orb but he still has a little more to do because he has to figure a way to feed it sensations. He must acquire sensations which does not empower the orb to control him even more. If you cage a tiger, then you would be foolish to provide s a type of meat which will cause the animal to become the wildest caged beast on the planet, and certainly you would not want to be accidently mauled or eaten by the creature.
If I feed the buddhi a type of sensation which causes it to become even more unruly or even some sensation which causes it to be reluctant to cooperate with my spiritual disciplines, then I would be fool-number-one.
But where would I find a type of sensation which would cause the buddhi to be cooperative with Patanjali idea of having no correct or incorrect reasoning and no imagination during meditation?
The answer is simple, do an effective pranayama breath infusion practice just before meditation. Or use whatever method pleases your little heart which gives you the result intended.
