Samadhi Meditation Procedure
On October 20 2015, Srila Yogeshwarananda gave what he termed to be a new process for meditation. It is not new when one closely examines it because it is contained in the Yoga Sutra meditation procedures of Patanjali. However using the term new is worth notice because if something is not natural, if we would not stumble on it spontaneously, then even if it makes sense, it is novel and we must endeavor to orient ourselves to it.
I caution that this requires a proficient breath-infusion session before the meditation. One should be proficient at breath infusion, should have already raised kundalini through kundalini yoga practice, and should be trained in how to shut the mind down as per Patanjali’s requirement to close the cittavritti sensations.
In the meditation, the first part of it has to do with the buddhi analytical orb. The second part has to do with the core-self as it is surrounded by the sense of identity.
This means there are two parts of the meditation but actually there are three states. One is between those two aforementioned parts. This median method is the observational posture of the core self.
Let me list the states:
- Buddhi organ being bombarded by kundalini-produced sensations
- Core-self observing the cessation of that bombardment
- Core-self realizing itself as being braced by naad as it absorbs spray energy from the chit akash sky of consciousness.
Here are details:
- Buddhi organ being bombarded by kundalini-produced sensations
This occurs naturally after a breath infusion session, after a thorough one. At that time if one sits to meditate there is a flow of energy which is observed partially or fully. This is noticed as to what direction the energy flows and which part of the psyche it flows into and as to what is its objective.
Who or what enjoys it? Who or what is afflicted or energized by it. Usually in this observation there is little concerned about where it originated because with breath infusion, it usually originates in the trunk of the subtle body.
During the meditation session, the concern is where the sensations are going and as to what consumes or uses them. Stated in common language, what or who enjoys the sensations.
Assuming that the student is that advanced, he or she will perceive that the sensations were generated by the kundalini psychic life force. Their ultimate objective, their target if they can hit it, is the buddhi analytical orb.
The enigma is that sometimes they do not hit the target. The result of which may be that the target may run to the sensations terminal-point or expression-place. It may happen that the buddhi analytic orb may observe the sensations from a safe distance. There is a risk also that the core-self will lose its observational perspective when the sensations become compressed and super-energized.
The advanced student should make the observation as to where the sensations are, as to what they target and as if they reach the buddhi analytical orb by their own directional force. If he discovers that they will not reach the orb, he should attract them to the orb by expressing a pulling force to bring them to where the buddhi is located.
Even if the orb is not eager to consume the sensations, still the core-self should induce the buddhi intellect orb to take the sensations. Or it should cause the orb to be bombarded by the sensations.
If he does not perceive the buddhi, he should figure its location as either its default position or somewhere else. He should attract the sensations to it. If there is a reluctance to do this and if he feels that he lacks the determination to do this because he is affected by the sensation energy, which causes his focus to be diminished or to be absent, then he should still make every effort to attract the sensations to the orb.
Once this is done, the student should keep doing this until the sensation-flow ceases of its own accord, or until he find himself to be in a blank space with the core-self bracing into the naad sound at the back of the head. This is the second process as described:
2 . Core-self observes the cessation of that bombardment
The core-self will notice a cessation of the bombardment of the sensations which were generated by the kundalini during the breath infusion session. Some of these sensations were new combination energies. Some were dormant energies which were energized by the breath infusion and which took on a higher dimensional aspect.
A question should arise in the meditation as to where the core-self is located and as to what is its object of focus. This does not arise as a verbal inquiry. It just is there as a posture of the core-self where it looks to see where it is. This is similar to a person who walks near to a corner and then looks around the corner to see himself somewhere before his vision. He does not see himself but he realizes that he is looking to see himself. It dawns on him that he is the one who is looking for the one who is looking.
At this point in the sequence, the core-self should realize itself as being on the edge of naad sound resonance or in the resonance and looking in one direction or the other or being neutral in terms of observing anything.
The self should remember that it is being directed and guided by a yoga guru. It has a course to complete. It is not directionless because it has instructions from a yoga-guru. This is when the third process arises:
3. Core-self realizes itself as being braced by naad as it absorbs spray energy from the chit akash sky of consciousness.
As soon as the core-self realizes that it is being braced by naad or if the core-self realizes it is not being braced by naad and it established itself absorbing contact with naad, it should begin to feel that it absorbs spray energy from the chit akash sky of consciousness.
This is because at all time this spiritual energy penetrates through the shrouding energy which surrounds the core self. The more shrouded it is, the least amount of chit akash energy will reach the core-self but in any case, still some minute portion of that energy will reach the self. The self should begin to feel that energy.

Srila Yogeshwarananda gave this procedure as fitting for usage of what it there in the psyche. This requires no artificial projection or visualization. It is real in terms of what is really there in the psyche.
