Resentment/Jealousy ~ Great Value
So many tendencies have so much value in human life, even the ones which we dislike and which we know are not in the interest of one and all. Two such features, which I am repeatedly confronted with are resentment and jealousy. Jealousy is one of the most unwanted and detested words in the English language and yet, to this day, we have not totally eliminated it or found its substitute.
It is usually used in the sense of competitive affection, particularly sexual love, but it applies to other aspects of human social relationships as well.
Resentment is a more modern word. It has the special feature of holding what we used to terms as a grudge, a hard feeling against someone for a real or imagined offensive verbal or physical act. It is also used in cases where someone has something which another person’s desires. That other person may hold a grudge because of not being able to get the same or a similar item.
Why, even in modern times, are we still plagued with resentments and jealousy?
Is it so innate to human nature that it may go into dormancy but never be eliminated all together?

I had an astral encounter with a friend I knew before. We lived in an ashram some years ago. This person left the ashram when he found out that his son was being sodomized by a senior school teacher. After years of being sodomize the son decided to tell his parents. The father was appalled because he was an honored big whig in the spiritual society and dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the religious group.
When he confronted the leading swami of the community about it, he got no satisfaction. The father then made an ultimatum that either he would leave the community or that abusive teacher would banished from the place. As it happened he was told by the leading swami that he, the sculptor, would have to leave. He was shocked because he felt that he was an important member. He could hardly believe his ears, that the leading swami would condone and even support the abusive teacher.
This happened over thirty (30) years ago. Just recently in the month of July of 2016, I met the father in the astral world, He still has a physical body. In the astral existence, he wanted my opinion about what happened. He was still resentful about what happened to his son. He wanted to know how I rated the response of leading swami, as well as what my view was about where ultimately the responsible for the abuse should fall. This is because the leading swami of that community was not the founder of the religious sect. It was another person. He implied that perhaps some of the responsibility for the abuse should be tagged on the founder of the sect, who was deceased at the time of the son’s complaint.
As he said this, I began to consider that even hereafter people carry with them the resentments and jealousies which are unresolved in their physical life. This means that these unwanted qualities travels with the person hereafter, and will surface again even if these are converted into predispositions.
I gave him my opinion but I thought that my view does not matter. The important thing is that he is burdened with the resentment for what happened. He carries that corrosive energy in the subtle body. Being right, being the victim or being related to the victim does not stop the corrosive action of resentment-feelings. Jealousy and resentment are corrosive regardless of if one is right about it or if one is the victim of a proven offense. It acts as a psychological corrosive energy in the victim and the victimizer. It destroys meditative focus and even devotional attempts to reach deities. But it is a sweet pleasure for the victims who cherish it. That is the mystery!
