Naad Sound Clarification

Email Inquiry

Is there any relationship between khechari mudra and naad? For quite some time...I am hearing sound of hummm like gong along with normal naad sound at night while lying down for sleep? It is not coming from subtle head, as you have written about instructions from Lahiri baba about naad with khechari and attention at space between eyebrows?

General questions about khechari mudra should not be asked because it is a complex practice which has several stages. General replies are over-simplifications only and are useless.

At what stage are you practicing khechari mudra? What are the psychic affects you are feeling when practicing it. I would have to know this to reply properly.

Khechari and naad are two separate practices. Naad is there by itself and all the yogi has to do is to connect into it and allow it to penetrate and saturate the core-self. The yogi does not produced or cause naad to be sounded.

But khechari is done by the yogi in so far as it is a physical action of pushing the tongue back towards the soft palate. What happens then in terms of meditation or energy saturation and movement depends on the stage of practice of that particular yogi. So unless we know what that is, an answer would not be forthcoming.

You stated that the gong naad sound is not coming from the subtle head. Okay, then tell us where it is originating from.

After doing kriyas....it is imp to sit for a while in silence with complete stillness.....any specific instructions..? Like hearing naad sound while keeping ur attention at third eye or crown chakra?pl. do advice.......pranams

This would depend on which kriya the student is doing. Why not say which kriya you are doing and then get the proper advice. There is no general one-size-fits all in yoga. Every instruction should be tailored to the individual according to his or her stage of progression.

If we ask vague questions, we will get vague answers. If we are detailed in questions then we have the chance to get suitable answers which we could put into practice.

If you are keeping attention at third eye and simultaneously hearing naad sound, then we must ask you:

Which one is your anchor and which one is your secondary focus?

Which one is your reference? Which one did you first establish and which one you are maintaining as you do the other one which is the primary focus. If you give information like this then we can be specific.

Suppose you get some powerful medicine, then you get another powerful medicine. You begin taking both of these. Then you feel uncertain about it and feel you should consult a physician.

You say to him, “I take this medication. I also take this other medication. What do you think?”

Then suppose the physician answers like this: “Please tell me how much of each of these you take and tell me also how often you take these during one day.”

So that would be proper that before he tells you what to you, he should find out what you are doing. This is what I mean.
