Muladhara Base Chakra Attack

Srila Yogeshwarananda if of the opinion that the conquest of muladhara chakra is essential for all serious students of yoga, especially for those who wish to transit to the siddhaloka places after leaving the body.

 

Kundalini has to be chased out of its lair which is the muladhara base chakra, the sacral region of the physical and subtle bodies. When the physical body is awake, the subtle body is interspaced in it. Thus it may be stated that the aroused physical body is an oneness or fusion of the two forms combined. It is only during astral projections that those two bodies are objectively separated from each other with the subtle body doing one thing, and the physical form in a sleeping or partial conscious state.

 

Muladhara base chakra is not the same as the kundalini life force but it is the default location of the kundalini. Even after the kundalini was chased from muladhara chakra, the chakra maintains an influence over the subtle body, such that even if kundalini is chased into the head of the subtle body, still at muladhara chakra a negative depressant force may be issued which will affect the quality of meditation.

 

Some students even ones who practiced for some years, and who claim to understand the kundalini yoga technique, even people who lived in ashram and who are fanatics about one aspect of the other of spiritual discipline, are found to always resume basic survival behaviors. This happens because of the inability to clean out muladhara chakra.

 

Patanjali attacked all phony yogis by declaring that there are five cittavritti, or mento-emotional operations, which he listed as:

 

  • correct analysis
  • incorrect analysis
  • imagination
  • sleep
  • memory.


Four of these concern the buddhi analytic orb, which is a trouble for yogis as it is.

 

One, in particular, which is sleep concerns the kundalini. For some reason even if the kundalini is chased into the brain its sleep aspect remains at the muladhara charka standing guard like a high security agent who would kill anyone who trespasses.

 

To conquer this sleep vritti is the mark of a great yogi or a successful hatha yogin. There are many phonies who are practicing yoga. A few of them claim me as their teacher. Okay!

 

Even if I am the teacher in fact, still that identity with me will not save one if one is unable to eliminate the sleep vritti energies at muladhara chakra. This does not mean that a person does not sleep or that a person sleeps for a limited time like say 5 hours, or that a person wakes at midnight or anything like that. It has nothing to do with that.

 

Conquest of sleep vritti aspect at muladhara chakra is denoted by the perception of chit akash in meditation whenever the yogi sits to mediate. It does not matter how late he sleeps in or how many hours he sleeps. That is not the way to test for this.

 

The method is that in meditation he is able to shut down the other four vritti operations of the mind and also he can transit into a state of consciousness from which chit akash sky of consciousness energy is made available to him.

One should try one’s best to attack kundalini and force it into the brain. When this is done to proficiency, one should then attack the mass of intestines. When that is achieved one should double check by attacking the hormonal energies. When that is done then one should, using breath infusion, attack the sacral area where the sleep vritti capsule exists. One should infuse breath energy into it sufficiently so that it is fully energized and does not have any sleep energy. Then one should sit to meditate and try one’s best to be sheltered in naad while shutting down the usually mind sky which is seen in the frontal part of the subtle head. One should then wait for the dawning of chit akash energy.

 

Srila Yogeshwarananda feels that as soon as one conquered the sleep vritti by which ever effective method, one can be rated as an advanced yogi who is worthy of being a yoga-guru. Otherwise he feels that one is a phony and does not qualify for samadhi practice.
