Meditation preCheck
There should be a preCheck at the beginning of each meditation. A yogi should review the condition of the mind, its current focus and its non-compliance with the means and ways of the meditation which is practiced.
Each yogi should have an objective and means of establishing that. This should be called to mind at the onset of every meditation attempt. If this is not done, the yogi may enter into a mental condition which the mind is engaged in, but which is contrary to the practice.
If one is not alert as to the condition of mind at the onset, it is likely that one will be in a diffused mental state or in a captured mental occupation. It will take some time, before one is released, and then discovers, that one was not in the required process, but was arrested by a series of thoughts, a mental movie.
As soon as one sits to meditate, one should proceed to find naad sound resonance. This means turning to the back of the subtle head, or making the focus of attention go to locate naad. As soon as naad is found, one should check to find if there is a need to say the Shiva mantra, which is Om Namo Shivaya.
As soon as one grasps that mantra, one should release it and check to see if the thought generator is in operation. If it is, one should immediately switch the focus to chant the Shiva mantra. One should use this mantra to banish the thought generator.
If, however, when one first contacts the Shiva mantra, there is no operations of the thought generator, one should immediate be aware of the blank state of mind. That is a blankness with spiritual quality.
The blank state has a spiritual texture, either as a bliss texture or as a neutral feeling throughout. This state should be focused upon for the rest of the meditation. It is a waiting state, where the yogi waits for a portal to open, or for the appearance of the supernatural or divine being.
Recently, on June 4, 2025, this procedure was established by Sir Paul Castagna and myself. Yogeshwarananda agreed that it should be practice in the case of those yogis who achieve deep inFocus. Sir Paul said that until the outFocus is withdrawn, any effort at this practice will be unsuccessful. That is due to the fact that the focusing behavior of the mind is such that it will not permit any stability on naad, nor on the Shiva mantra, nor on the blank mental condition.
Sir Paul is convinced that pranayama breath infusion should be done before this practice is used. Immediately after doing breath infusion, one should sit to meditate as described.
