Lahiri Baba’s Complaint

Lahiri Baba came astrally on December 24, 2015, during my breath infusion practice to complain about a friend who is recently deceased. It appears that this student-yogi is busy on the astral planes, telling everyone to do alternate breathing which is also called anuloma/viloma pranayama. Lahiri Baba said this:

What sort of student is he?| A student is supposed to practice, not to teaching, not to run here and there telling everyone to do this pranayama or to do that pranayama. What does he know about it? Has he perfected it? Can he should the results in his own practice from doing it?

The student in question is a friend of mine, who I instructed. During his past life in a material body, he questioned me about alternate breathing but I never recommended it to him. In fact I told him that all those yogis who did it and who were mentioned in Paramhansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi, book, and did so in a very advanced state which current student may hardly attain. That practice was done in isolation with super concentration which murder students are hardly likely to have today.

The irritating thing about this students and others like him who want to be teachers or who feel that it is their mission and energy to share what they know theoretically about yoga, is that they are inattention to themselves. They do not introspect enough. They do not understand anything about ashtanga yoga as per the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. But if Sri Lahiri Baba notices that one teaches and feels that one should not be doing that, then one’s situation is dire indeed.

I always instruct those who want to teach like this:

Be sure that you properly tested whatever you are recommend. Merely because a kriya is given in a book or is given by a great yogin, is no reason to teach it. Test it on yourself. Teach about it according to the results you achieve.

Regarding anuloma/viloma pranayama, I was first shown that procedure and given count for it by Arthur Beverford when he was living in Ventura California during the year of 1973. I can say emphatically that he taught it according to what he was shown by Rishi Singh Gherwal. And still I do not teach it. This is because I have no confidence that it will give the result intended. However I recommend that those who really want to do it, should do it after doing a full breath infusion session using kapalabhati/bhastrika rapid breathing pranayama.

Besides this, Sri Lahiri Baba explicitly told me not to teach it anyone, because he feels that presently we are not in the proper psychological profile to use that method efficiently.

It does not make sense to give a computer to a monkey. Even a typewriter is a super technology for a primate animal. Even a graphite pencil is a super machine for the animal.
