Interest Turnabout

Interest turnabout is part of the pratyahar sensual energy retraction effort but it continues long after the first attempt when the yogi makes the primary effort to meditate and discovers that he cannot do so and that what he read or heard about as advanced meditation just does not happen in his mind.

What happens in your meditation?

Is your mind naturally extrovert, mostly procuring information from the outside of your physical body and mindal space?

When you sit to meditate does your mind naturally internalize so that it has no interest in what happens outside of your physical body and outside your mental space?

What process of meditation do you use to convert your extroverted mental state into an introverted one?

!~~~~~~~!

There is an advanced meditation procedure, where the yogi’s mind internalized but the attention of the core-self remains oriented to the frontal part of the subtle head but without going outside of the head, remaining inside. In this condition the attention energy was brought under control but it had one last reform action which it should be submitted to. This causes it to be no longer oriented to the buddhi intellect orb. The interest energy releases itself from its attraction to the intellect.

The problem with this effort is that by nature the attention energy needs to lean on something. It was leaning on the buddhi intellect orb which was its default reliance. It could not stand on its own. Can it be independent? What is the truth of the matter?

This means that the attention energy must find a new shelter, which is already in existence. That focus for it is the naad sound resonance.

The effort however to make the attention rely on the naad is that it has to be turned about from its conventional frontal focus. It has to turn about to face the back of the head.

Later when the interest energy is stabilized on naad, it can be focused down into the trunk of the subtle body. This focus is what replaces the need of the interest energy to pursue senses objects in the physical and subtle worlds. It frees the core-self from the constant hankering for physical and subtle sense objects, which are outside the psyche and which serve as a distraction from a thorough critique of the core-self and its relationship with the adjuncts.
