Intellect (Analytical Orb) Addiction
There are of course many types of addictive behavior which humans are plagued with and which are detrimental to one and all. Some of these ruin the material body. Some ruin the subtle body. Some do harm to social relationships. Some make a human being become desensitized to his or her fair and reasonable responsibilities.
However for the purpose of inSelf Yoga™ I am concerned only with the addiction of the adjuncts. What happens in the external world is of little interest to serious students of this practice, even though we must keep some tabs on what goes on around us in the material world. When all is said and done, when human history played out for better or worse, willy nilly, we will be left with a psyche which is ordered or disordered, elevated or degraded. Thus there is an urgency to identify the self-destructive internal behaviors and their causes.
It is not what she did to him or what he did to her. It is none of that. It is rather what happened between the core-self and its adjuncts. The conspiracy which we should be investigating is the undermining of the adjuncts.
The addiction of the intellect is focus but the object of its focus is idea images in the mind. These images are generated in two ways primarily, either through sensual input or through memory reconstructions. Because its conventional focus is towards images, it expects to zero-in on images which are projected from the senses or from the memory into itself. If there is no image, the intellect feels undone. It transmits this feeling to the core-self which is affected and is induced to provide interest and energy to sponsor the generation of the required images.
What can that core-self do to cease its susceptibility to the needs of the intellect?
Can the core-self reconstruct the intellect?
Can it make that psychic organ more amendable to its needs?
Can the core-self have immediate, abrupt and full command over the intellect where it can stop an undesirable focus or cut off the power of the memory to project images into the intellect?
