What a crock of bollocks! 

Only a very recently did the practice of yoga in the West break out of such negative connotations from various religions, away from the confins of "NewAge" religion/practices, likely due its commercialization and general acceptance as a astute form of bodily fitness.

Though many were aware of such talks, or religious points of view, their desire for improving the bodily form won them over by the masses. And, that form or aspect of yoga (we merely consider as a byproduct) is spreading the world around like a wild fire.
