Eternal Insecurity / Parents ~ Sexual Companion
One of the most difficult attainments for ascetics is resistance to the desire for good parents and an eternal spouse. The desire for this is repeatedly assailing the human forms of life in each lifetime when a limited spirit reincarnates.
First there is the desire to have the perfect mother and father. The definition of what is perfect may vary from child to child but the demand for it is there in the nature of the infant. The mother is usually imaged to be the ideal person of affection, someone who would never discipline the infant and would be at its beck and call, to provide everything its little heart could ever desire.
The father should be the ideal provider with sufficient money to buy whatever the infant would need and provide a child proof environment where the child would never be hurt no matter who reckless the child might be.
But when the body of the infant reaches sexual maturity, there arises the need for a sexual companion. At that time the male may seek out a companion who is either female or male but with the feeling that the relationship will last forever. In this there is mutual expectation with one partner wanting the other to meet certain standards of behavior whereby jealousy is never manifested because the partner will never find another lover and will never look with suspected or real desire at any other person.
The hope is that this relationship of sexual companionship would last till the end of time, such that even in old age people desire this to continue happening even though death stares them in the face and threatens to end the union.
How should a yogi deal with this ongoing sense of insecurity, with these expectations which providence will of necessity breach?
Recently I received an energy from a relative of mine, who felt that I should stay on till death with one partner. All through the years when my children were with me as minors, I had two women in my home. But now someone is saying that I should only have one woman with me. I traced this desire of this person who is herself married and who is on the verse or leaving her body, due to old age, to that person’s sense of insecurity about what will happen at death.
Will she go to the heaven of her religious belief?
If so, what will happen there, will she again be with the sexual partner she had in this life?
Will she stay in the astral world for a while and then again become a physical embryo as someone’s child?
If so will she again meet the same sexual partner she had in this life?
She feels that I should support this idea of having one person as an eternal spouse and that my lack of support weakens that desire but is that really so?
Am I the force which if it supports or does not support that, will cause the natural and definite uncertainties relating to that?
What would it mean for the person whom she has now as a lifelong sexual companion?
What restrictions would be on him if her desire was fulfilled?
Suppose he does not want to continue with her and would have separated from her years ago if it were not for social pressures which kept him in the relationship?
What would be his rights in the matter as regards being or not being with her in the next or in any other future life?
There is a nice story in the New Testament, where some critics who wanted to make a joke out of Jesus Christ, ask him about a woman who was known to have sexual relationships with several men. They asked Jesus which of those men the woman would be with in heaven. Christ said that in heaven there is no marriage or giving of daughters into marriage as was the tradition of his time.
So what does that mean?
What is going on in heaven?
Christ did not say there was no sexual partnership in heaven just that there was no marriage ceremony, but all the same he did not say that there would be sexual partnership either. We are left to ponder on exactly what he knew about the social situation in heaven.
