Divine Eye Development
The development of the divine eye is one of the most difficult achievements in yoga but it is a necessary step in gaining deep insight into the mysteries of this creation. It allows for rapid access of existential conditions so that a yogi can make decisions in his long-ranged spiritual interest and rate experiences as they happen in this or in some other dimension.
Imagine being blind in both eyes and trying to negotiate your way through a dense jungle. How would you do it? Regardless of a positive or negative philosophy, the passage would be near impossible. By some fluke one may find the way. Even with good vision it would be a task for anyone even if the person had navigational aids and tools to hack his way.
With the realization that the divine eye is present as the intellect (buddhi) which is a psychic organ in the head of the subtle body, its mystery is solved quite easily. There are other types of supernatural vision for sure, but the primary tool involved is the intellect. It is abstract. It is super-subtle and can hardly be pin-pointed.
To make matters worse, when not operating, it becomes invisible. When it operates it remain invisible even though it illustrates ideas and images during the operations. Imagine a television which is invisible and which is always only indicated by the shows which it images. If you cannot see something, it is likely that you cannot ever control it or even make attempts to bring it under regulation.
Nature made it easy to focus on the intellect when it is in operation but it becomes imperceptible when it is ceases displaying ideas and image. How then can it be converted into the divine eye?
How can it be apprehended and used for supernatural and natural penetrating insight?
