Divine Eye Development

Currently I am following some instructions having to do with the development of the divine eye. The idea is to test these procedures to be sure that they do work. This is a system being dictated by Srila Yogeshwarananda based on what austerities he did when he use the last material body. Even though he got help from Swami Atmananda Mahayogin, still there are some proficiency which Srila Yogesh attained which qualified him to get the assistance.

Getting grace of a mahayogin or a deity is necessary but we should not forget how to qualify for the assistance. It is a human tendency to quack and quiver about getting assistance and not to consider if one met the qualification which would cause that assistance to be activated in one’s life.

In developing the possibility of having the divine eye, there are many achievements which the student must master. The basic grade requires collection and redirection of the kundalini psychic lifeforce, redirection of the sensual energies which pour out of the psyche naturally, reformation of the lifestyle and pruning of non-yogic influences. Once the student achieves these, the work can be done in earnest but the details of how to handle the abstract practices, are given by a yoga guru bit by bit, as the student advances, step by step, or baby-step by baby-step.

The divine eye is a cut-through from the dimension in which the yogi perceives to a higher place. It is a transit passage through which the yogi either sees or travels through. It happens from within the psyche of the yogi and is not like astral projection where the subtle body as a whole travels here or there.

There must be complete compliance with Patanjali’s stipulation about stopping the operations of the mento-emotional energies. The student must master that in one meditation after another, over time. Then there will be a development where the student finds that the mind assumes that non-operational mode naturally without being pressured and without a fight.

This human form of life is itself full of excitement and is cherished by most of us for that reason, because we want to experience certain of the excitements which we like and which we think are necessary for happiness.

In the practice of developing the divine eyes, the financial, social or sexual excitements must be abandoned but only with confidence that these are not needed and with the accomplishment of having experienced these before and then accessing their worth. This practice cannot be used successful if the person has not evolved comprehensively because the psychic material nature will hold energy for more of these experiences in reserve, which will prohibit full advancement.

There are many students who feel that there is no need to complete the necessary experiences in the mundane evolutionary cycle, but our preferences do not control our transmigrations. The life opportunities are formatted by the psychic material nature. Hence understanding that outlay is important. Neglecting that will not free one from material nature’s control. If one did not complete the lessons of evolution to the satisfaction of material nature, the belief in a guru or God also will not free one. Thus this practice is useless for religious fanatics and self-centered people who refuse to take hints about the truth of our situation.

!~~~~~~~!

In the practice for developing the divine eye, at the very high end of the discipline, the yogi should begin to take charge of the theatrical behavior of the mind this behavior is well known because a student is confronted with it, each time he or she sits to mediation

The mind at that time, continues or resumes its normal attitude of showing various ideas and images to the core-self. Depending on the stored power in these illustrations, the self is force to observe them or may be able to abandon them.

The core-self must first become bigger and more forceful then the mind’s illustration faculty so that when the yogi begins a meditation, that faculty (buddhi analytical faculty) immediately ceases its operations for fear of being disciplined by the core-self. This is a reverse of the nature-given format which is that the core-self is usually afraid of the illustration faculty and cowers under its influence.

Now that this reversal happened, the yogi should focus the core-self’s interest into the illustration faculty which is blank at this time. That focus will cause no image or idea to show. It will remain blank which is the stipulation of Patanjali. This practice should continue for a week, year, or lives even, until at that place where the focus of the interest occurs there arises the development of the divine eye. Instead of the buddhi intellect making illustrations in that space, the divine eye will be experienced there.
