Departure from History - Asceticism
Sannyasa means total departure, without a trace in history, in social involvement. The first n in the word is an equivalent of m, such that it is sam, total and complete. The rest of the word, as nyasa, means to prohibit the activity, to cease it.
It is an attack on history. To make that, one has to participate. The idea of existing as a physical something, is to survive, while chalking out activities of participation. To attack that effectively, is sannyasa.
But can one do this?
If one even attempts to do this, what is one’s position?
Refusing to participate in history is to challenge life itself. Even though those who commit suicide make history. They add to it. Ceasing the participation entirely? Who can do that?
There are many hypocrite-sannyasis. No one should admire them. They are ordinary, being pawns of history, servants of it. They add to it. They making it happen, on and on and on.
