Departed Yogi Criticizes Dogma

During the afternoon practice and meditation, I had two astral visitors, both being deceased. It was my friend Sir Paul Castagna and also Swami Rama. The two met astrally and were in a discussion about the components in the psyche.

Sir Paul is of the opinion now that the sorting of these components is vital to self-realization but before he left his last body, there was a period where he did not like this sorting idea. At the time, he cried out about it causing a disunity or break up within the person, which he said hurts very much.

Swami Rama however wanted to speak about other matters. First and foremost was the fact that one of his disciples who is a leader of the institution he founded in the USA, sticks to dogma and does not do sufficient practice. Swami Rama said this:

It does not matter what one believes, if it is Advaita or dvaita, Shaivite or otherwise, if one is devotional or intellectual. The main facet is practice of the method and constant progress because of the practice. Suppose one practices but one remains stagnant, then that is the issue.

This person whom I suggested should run the institution does not make any advancement. He merely lectures and writes based on dogma. Dogma is nothing unless you use it to motivate your practice.

My opinion, in retrospect to my taking sannyasa or monk status when using the last body, is that one should not do it. It is best to live a simple life, be humble about it, and do a little for the ancestors who need bodies but practice all along, never giving up practice even if one is a family man. Once those ancestral concerns tail off, one can firm up the yoga practice and complete the austerities.

Why begin an institution as I did. In the end, one will have to leave the body. And then what? Who will take responsibility for the institution? Can that person live up to expectations? Thus I am of the opinion now, that it is best not to do this.
