Deity Relationship Limited
inSelf Yoga™ had deities as a major part of the conclusion of the practice. This means that ultimately regardless of the desire of the student, he or she will have to yield to the opportunity offered by a deity or go back into the material existence to fulfill other desires. There are many types of relationship with a deity but which one will be offered to which person remains a mystery until that offer is actually made.
In our current situation we are aware of relationships. We live in the auspices of relationships. These begin in infancy with the mother. This progresses into various other familial relationships. At school we have a relationship with teachers. At the place of employment we have a relationship with the employer. As young adults we develop relationship with a sexual partner. As mature adults we mimic our parents by having relationship with our children. Later we have a relationship with grandchildren. Then our social interplay comes to an end as death of the physical body.
Which of these relationship do you cherish the most? Is it the relationship with the mother, the father, the brother, the sister, the teacher, the sexual partner, one’s child or grandchild?
For inSelf Yoga™ the students has to forego these relationships and scrap his or her preference. One has to prepare the self so that it is willing to accept whatever opportunity the deity offers. The self should do this without qualms.
The technicality about this is that while going through various species of life in the material existences over millions and millions of years, one is subject to a series of varied relationships, some advantageous and some not. It is natural then that when one reaches the top of evolution as a human being, one should have some preference.
Usually the preference is for a sexual relationship with someone. In this life, it is with this person. In the previous life, it was with that other person. In the future it will be with yet some other person. One can only call the shots in so far as material nature gives opportunities. If there is someone who is currently in Yugoslavia and if that is the person I would love the most out of this set of human beings, my potential love for that person would not be expressed if I have no access to being in Yugoslavia. Perhaps I was born in a tribe in the Amazon Rain Forest, where I never heard of Yugoslavia. Instead I met this young Amazonian girl who became the recipient of my affections. To me she is all the world, the ultimate receptor.
Thus my preference is based only on the opportunities provided by providence. I cannot be sure that what I select today as the best for my relationship needs is actually the most suitable. I may not have the best before me. The technicality is that of these relationship provided by nature, I cannot be sure about any of them.
Regardless of which relationship one would select as the best, as the preference, the deity will not consider it. That is the sad part. Can the student accept this?
Ultimately one has to forego these relationships and open up the facility provided to the deity for oneself. What will that be? Only the deity knows.
There is a certain conceit which is present in the psyche. The student has to discover that and work to eliminate it. It has to be confronted at some stage of practice. Then one has to remove it from the psyche. This conceit is the energy which gives one the idea that one is the center of attention or that one should rightfully be the center of relationships.
This conceit energy is in the psyche such that the son of a father wants to be a man in his own right. The daughter of a mother wants to be a woman in her own right. No one wants to remain as the child of a parent. This is all about role replacement. There is dissatisfaction in remaining as the child of the parent forever.
In the final analysis however this conceit energy has to be eliminated if one is to advance to having direct communication with a deity. Many people in the modern era are searching for the soul mate. But suppose the deity has no such plan for oneself. What then?
