Dark Night Chasm Samadhi

Sir Paul Castagna who is now deceased, practiced samadhi in the astral world under the tutelage of Yogeshwarananda. On the day of March 11, 2021, I met Sir Paul just as he emerged from a week long samadhi session, where his astral world remained in an upright lotus posture for the period.

The samadhi broke of its own accord. He was not awakened by anyone and had no idea as to how long he was in the suspended state. I questioned him about the experience. He said that it was a blank state. There was no memory, no identity, nothing, no sense of time, no light. It was a blank chasm like falling into a dark moon night under the canopy of a dense forest through which no light could penetrate.

After he said this, a woman who is deceased but whom we knew in Minnesota, physically in 1976, appeared by my side. Somehow, she found Sir Paul and was attracted to Yogeshwarananda’s ashram at this place. This woman was a librarian at a place called Thief River Falls in Minnesota.

When someone enters a samadhi, it is important to question that person as to the experience because then one can gage which level the person experienced, rather than assume that it was an insightful realization. Some such states, as this one of Sir Paul, is samadhi in the retardative mode. Even these samadhis are valuable once the yogi understands what they are and how he transited to their location.
