coreSelf Alone with Focus
In the present situation, the coreSelf has only one sense which is its focusing attention, when that attention stands on its own and is not wired to, nor plugged in to, nor linked to, nor engaged to, any other sensual means. When it is in the neutral position, an engine runs freely because its shaft is not engaged to any other mechanism. As soon as it is engaged in any way, it has to do take in account, the drag of the influence of what it is connected to.
The bare coreSelf by itself has a focusing force which may be active, relaxed, or dormant. When the focus is active, it has a striking awareness, When the focus is relaxed, it remains alert but with negligible alertness. When it is dormant it does not have application. It may also be suspended such that the core has no objectivity. Then its experience is one of being a subject only with no reference through which it can contrast itself.
The focus itself is the single sense but for the most part, it is spontaneously, impulsively, and involuntarily, engaged with some sense faculty. In meditation, one should learn how to be alone with the focus, where it is not applied nor engaged. This is a type of samadhi meditative absorption. Patanjali requested that for the proficiency of yoga, one should cease the engagements of the coreSelf, so as to realize the core by itself.
