Chit Akash Recognition
Recognition of chit akash is problematic merely because it is not within the range of the usual mento-emotional experiences which are awarded freely by material nature as one uses one or the other species of life with their specialized sensing abilities.
Due to becoming over-familiar with the conventional glossary of mundane sense objects both in the gross and psychic material nature, we are at a loss to even recognize if we have a chit akash experience. Such experience might have a pleasure-neutral aspect which to us might seem to be the equivalent of nothingness.
Bombastic spiritualists of various persuasions usually boast about not having to enter a void about the stupidity of doing that, but their attitude is to their undoing in that they mistake pleasure-neutral spiritual experiences as being void and so they miss the substance of meditation experience.
Over the years teaching this inSelf Yoga, even previously when it was not registered under that name, even when I did not develop it as advanced as I present it at this time, I found that students just do not get it about transcendental experience. The main reason is the persistence of the convention pleasure-references which are in the psyche, placed there for our convenience by material nature.
How could I cause students to break away from this reference?
Just recently I read a book on JavaScript an internet programming language which is blended with HTML, which is the ABC of internet behind-the-scenes information transfer. I was shocked at the writer’s ability to communicate the subject. All the way through the book, I expected that I would cease learning but somehow because the author was expert at teaching, I completed the book.
In yoga we have a similar scene where a teacher, like for instance, me, may not communicate the message to the student while another teacher, like that programming author, might.
O well! We are not equally endowed.

Descriptions of chit akash experience which we get are few and far in-between. Those descriptions from advanced yogis who meditated for years before having the experiences, are for the most part useless.
Imagine me, an aborigine in a jungle. I have not discovered a way to create fire, but I speak to a nuclear physicist about making a nuclear bomb. Do I think I could put the physicist’s knowledge to use?
The baby has not begun to crawl but it wants to learn how to run.
First you get some experience of chit akash which you can recognize as being just that. Then you learn from a yoga guru how to increase the likelihood of having that experience repeatedly, even for moments.
A persistent chit akash experience which last for say three to five (3-5) minutes is out of this world and is exceptional. You cannot depend on that to happen again ever. Have you seen a blue moon? Can you see it once a month as the full moon? Better get smart and not depend on that.
It is very entertaining to hear about yogis who were linked in chit akash for fifteen minutes or more but since it is hardly likely that one will ever have such a persistent chit akash experience it makes no sense that one should aim for that. However one should marvel at and appreciate those siddhas or near-siddhas who had such experiences.
How do you recognize a chit akash experience if you never had one and just do not know what the term chit akash means. First, keep a log of your meditation experiences. Show this to a teacher whom you trust. Let him or her inform you if any of your experiences during meditation is chit akash energy. Even if the experience was for a moment, it should be noted.
Once you know what is chit akash experience even the momentary ones, you can meditate with intention to recognize it if it happens again. Just that recognition is impetus for you to meditate. Just that will assist you to rising early to meditate, to banish laziness, stupor and sleep.
Good Luck!
