This photo below shows what might happen in meditation when one sees into the chit akash through the third eye or through some type of insight meditation. See the link to the Science article where this image was located.

This is very similar to the 3rd-eye or Ajna chakra signature, not only in form, but also with the colors.

This is what one usually sees after doing the jyoti mudra prescribed by the Kriya Yoga of Hariharananda, if done properly.

However, I guess the activation of it without the motions of pressing the eyes is the real deal.

Thanks for posting this picture.  I do see something very similar when provoking the third eye during practice and after in meditation sometimes...i was not thinking chit akash would look anything like this, but as you said above it might 'maybe' look like this, so i assume it can take on different variations.

I was thinking chit akash would look like celestial heavens and blue skies for some reason.

devaPriya,

That is like if you are on the inside of your subtle head (psyche) surrounded by cloudy astral energy and then the energy parts and you see into the chit akash which is the space outside of the cloud of energy which surrounds you. There is a verse from Bhagavad Gita:

Arjuna said: Then explain, O family man of the Vṛṣṇis, by what is a person forced to commit an evil unwillingly, just as if he were compelled to do so? (3.36)

kāma ea krodha ea

rajoguasamudbhava

mahāśano mahāpāpmā

viddhyenamiha vairiam (3.37)

śri bhagavān — the Blessed Lord; uvāca — said; kāma — craving; ea — this; krodha — anger; ea — this; rajoguasamudbhava = rajo (raja) — passion + gua — emotion + samudbhava — source; mahāśano (mahāśana) = mahā — great + aśana — consuming power; mahāpāpmā = mahā — much + pāpmā — damage; viddhyenam = viddhi — recognize + enam — this; iha — in this case; vairiam — enemy

The Blessed Lord said: This force is craving. This power is anger. The passionate emotion is the source. It has a great consuming power and does much damage. Recognize it as the enemy in this case. (3.37)

dhūmenāvriyate vahnir

yathādarśo malena ca

yatholbenāvto garbhas

tathā tenedamāvtam (3.38)

dhūmenāvriyate = dhūmena — by smoke + āvriyate — is obscured; vahnir = vahni — the sacrificial fire; yathā — similarly; 'darśo = ādarśa — mirror; malena — with dust; ca — and; yatholbenāvto = yatholbenāvta = yatho (yatha) — similarly + ulbena — by skin + āvta — is covered; garbha — embryo; tathā — so; tenedam = tena — by this + idam — this; āvtam — is blocked

As the sacrificial fire is obscured by smoke, and similarly as a mirror is shrouded by dust or as an embryo is covered by skin, so a man's insight is blocked by the passionate energy. (3.38)

kāmarūpea kaunteya

dupūreānalena ca (3.39)

āvtam — is adjusted; jñānam — discernment; etena — by this; jñānino = jñānina — educated people; nityavairiā = nitya — eternal + vairiā — by the enemy; kāmarūpea = kāma — yearning for various things + rūpea — by the sense or form of; kaunteya — son of Kuntī; dupūreānalena = duspūrea — is hard to satisfy + analena — by fire; ca — and

The discernment of educated people is adjusted by their eternal enemy which is the sense of yearning for various things. O son of Kuntī, the lusty power, is as hard to satisfy as it is to keep a fire burning. (3.39)

etairvimohayatyea

jñānamāvtya dehinam (3.40)

indriyāi — the senses; mano = mana — the mind; buddhir = buddhi — the intelligence; asyādhiṣṭhānam = asya — if this + adhiṣṭhānam — warehouse; ucyate — it is authoritatively stated; etair = etai — with these; vimohayatyea = vimohayaty (vimohayati) — confuses + ea — this; jñānam — insight; āvtya — is shrouded; dehinam — embodied soul

It is authoritatively stated that the senses, the mind and the intelligence are the combined warehouse of the passionate enemy. By these faculties, the lusty power confuses the embodied soul, shrouding his insight. (3.40)

Each of us is surrounded by a psychological cloud of energy through which we either see or do not see other dimensions or into the spiritual dimension. So we are cordoned off like that. When accidentally or deliberately we become totally detached from that cloud of energy or if we are able to eliminate it, then the chit akash is reached.

Lord Krishna gave the summary statement above about this.

      Alfredo,

Physical pressing of the eyes cannot take a person to chit akash but it can take one to other dimensions in the astral world. Chit akash is not part of the astral system but is outside of it. It is for that reason that I do not usually teach pressing of the eyes or encourage people to do it. It is a huge hoax played on student yogis by some gurus.
