Cause of Opportunity

The cause of opportunity! Why does one individual get an opportunity while another person who really wants that experience does not get it? What causes opportunity? Is it that after approximately fifteen (15) billion years, the universe just decided to bless someone, or the Supreme Being (for those who believe there is one) turned to grace some particular person and no one else?

One life only to consider?

How does other lives figure in?

Is an opportunity today based on today or yesterday?

Is everything based on NOW?

What about the satisfaction one gets from rationalizing what happens in terms of now, in terms of this life only?

Will that satisfaction be suppressed if one has to consider previous lives? Will one have to recalculate as to why someone got an opportunity and as to the way the person acted in that circumstances.

Some say the past does not matter, only the present.

Does it matter that Professor Einstein made significant contributions to the field of physics? Should we only think of the current researcher and wipe Einstein’s name from the list. He is the past, so is he irrelevant because he is not part of the Now?

Opportunities?

What are they?

That peasant, a serf, married the Queen. Was it based only on the information about him we can derive from this current life? Or was he given the opportunity to do so only because of his present motives?

Was he a king in his past life? Did he get the opportunity to woo the queen because of performance in a forgotten past life. Is that relevant? Should we only consider his current peasant status?

The people were shocked when the queen married him. Everyone in the village knew him as a poor man without an education with no nobility, a nothing. They could not understand why the queen was so stupid to want him. It just did not make any sense.
