This morning during meditation I had strange experience. In a way this is a very merciful insight given to me by the grace of Lord Krishna and Srila Yogeshwarananda. This has to do with what a yogi must do before passing from the body. If it is not mastered before that, he or she will be unable to do it at the time of passing.
This is such a real experience that it can only be compared to packing one’s bag to leave a country for good to go to another location. And of course such bags have a weight limit which is absolute. If it is heavier than it should be, if it has items which are prohibited, one will not be able to board the flight with ease. One will be inconvenienced by the clerks and security officials.
When this experience happened, I had a flash of some Gita verses, something which I learnt from Sri Krishna:

ममैवांशो जीवलोके
जीवभूतः सनातनः ।
मनःषष्ठानीन्द्रियाणि
प्रकृतिस्थानि कर्षति ॥१५.७॥
mamaivāṁśo jīvaloke
jīvabhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ
manaḥṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi
prakṛtisthāni karṣati (15.7)
mamaivāṁśaḥ = mama — my + eva — indeed + aṁśaḥ — partner; jīvaloke = jīva — individualized conditioned being + loke — in the world; jīvabhūtaḥ individual soul; sanātanaḥ — eternal; manaḥ — mind; ṣaṣṭhānindriyāṇi = saṣṭhāni — sixth + indriyāṇi — sense, detection device; prakṛtisthāni — mundane; karṣati — draws
My partner is in this world of individualized conditioned beings. He is an eternal individual soul but he draws to himself the mundane senses of which the mind is the sixth detection device. (15.7)
शरीरं यदवाप्नोति
यच्चाप्युत्क्रामतीश्वरः ।
गृहीत्वैतानि संयाति
वायुर्गन्धानिवाशयात् ॥१५.८॥
śarīraṁ yadavāpnoti
yaccāpyutkrāmatīśvaraḥ
gṛhītvaitāni saṁyāti
vāyurgandhānivāśayāt (15.8)
śarīraṁ — by body; yad — which; avāpnoti — he acquires; yat — which; cāpi — and also; utkrāmatīśvaraḥ = utkrāmati — departs from + īśvaraḥ — master; gṛhītvaitāni = gṛhītvā — taking + etāni — these; saṁyāti — he goes; vāyuḥ — wind; gandhān — perfumes; ivāśayāt = ivā — just as + āśayāt — from source
Regardless of whichever body that master acquires, or whichever one he departs from, he goes taking these senses along, just as the wind goes with the perfumes from their source. (15.8)
श्रोत्रं चक्षुः स्पर्शनं च
रसनं घ्राणमेव च ।
अधिष्ठाय मनश्चायं
विषयानुपसेवते ॥१५.९॥
śrotraṁ cakṣuḥ sparśanaṁ ca
rasanaṁ ghrāṇameva ca
adhiṣṭhāya manaścāyaṁ
viṣayānupasevate (15.9)
śrotraṁ — hearing; cakṣuḥ — vision; sparśanaṁ — sense of touch; ca — and; rasanaṁ — taste; ghrāṇaṁ — smell; eva — indeed; ca — and; adhiṣṭhāya — governing ; manaścāyaṁ = manaḥ — mind;-- ca — and + ayaṁ— this; viṣayān — attractive objects; upasevate — becomes addicted
While governing the sense of hearing, the vision, the sense of touch, the sense of taste, the sense of smell and the mind, My partner becomes addicted to the attractive objects. (15.9)
उत्क्रामन्तं स्थितं वापि
भुञ्जानं वा गुणान्वितम् ।
विमूढा नानुपश्यन्ति
पश्यन्ति ज्ञानचक्षुषः ॥१५.१०॥
utkrāmantaṁ sthitaṁ vāpi
bhuñjānaṁ vā guṇānvitam
vimūḍhā nānupaśyanti
paśyanti jñānacakṣuṣaḥ (15.10)
utkrāmantaṁ — departing; sthitaṁ — remaining; vāpi = vā — or + api — also; bhuñjānaṁ — exploiting; vā — or; guṇānvitam — under the influence of material nature; vimūḍhā — idiots; nānupaśyanti = na — not + aupaśyanti — they perceived; paśyanti — they perceive; jñānacakṣuṣaḥ — vision of reality
The idiots do not perceive how the spirit departs or remains or exploits under the influence of material nature. But those who have the vision of reality do perceive this. (15.10)

There are two ways to leave a material body for good at its death:
1. Voluntarily
2. Involuntarily (Eviction)
One can either leave voluntarily, by packing one’s psychological baggage or one can be evicted with some of that baggage which will be packed by the psychic material nature in its own way.
If one does so voluntarily one can pack one’s psychological energies neatly and then leave the body, just before or just as the psychic nature is about to shut down the system for good.
If one does so involuntarily one will be pushed out of the body and then sucked out of it at the last moment with a haphazardly packed psyche. Most of us will use this death route out of the body.

Continued from above.......
To explain this, let me be clear by citing my own situation, so that there are no illusions about this. If I left my body today, some of my psychological baggage will be packed in a careless way. This is because I have not completed enough of the practice of a siddha yogi to collect and arrange the psychological energy which I will pass on with. This would mean partial success. If however I can progress some more, then I might reach a stage in the body, providence permitting, God’s grace showering down like rain, where I can get everything packed neatly in a small psychological carry-on bag. That would be a success.
If I get partial success, I may be able to practice more in the astral world hereafter. Then I would complete the process in the hereafter and would not be required to take another physical body to complete the practice.

In the verses by Krishna above, there is mention of the limited spirit going away from a body finally but taking the senses along. He cannot go without the psychological equipment.
Will he be pushed out with the sensual energy trailing him in an haphazard order.
Will he exit with the sensual energy under his thumb?
Of the Pandavas, only Yudhishthira is said to have left with everything neatly packed and in order. Even Arjuna the student of the Bhagavad Gita left in a partially successful man. Why is it that very few yogis achieve this in the end?

The meditation this morning was a rapid progress from the meditation yesterday. It happened more or less by the mercy of Srila Yogeshwarananda who left an instruction energy in my psyche. I did not see him astrally during this meditation nor did I feel his presence but I recognized his instruction energies by its quality. Yesterday the naad sound was down in the lower back brain just above where the head and neck meet. Today the naad sound moved down in the neck, in the back just below where the head and neck meet. At that place the core-self pulled the sensual energies to itself so that they were evacuated from the head and made a compact package of psychological content.
The instruction content energy from Srila Yogeshwarananda read like this:
Yogis may pull in the sensual energies just before death and keep those energies package at the top of the sushumna nadi. When the kundalini force moves up, the entire energy can be evacuated either through the top of the head or even exit out the back of the neck at the top of the spine. Some yogis who are super-advanced, get the energies in collection like this and do not move an inch, instead they are transited out of the body system even without making any astral transit movements.
The feature of this experience which is to be noted, is how the sensual energies (indriyas) fold in from the frontal part of the subtle head and also from the subtle head period and just stay with the core-self in naad in total silence without resistance or interest in the material world.
