Breath-Energy Distribution

When doing breath infusion using kapalabhati or bhastrika, or for that matter any other procedure of infusing fresh air into the body, the student should be attentive to the distribution of the energy which is infused into the psyche.

After a certain number of breaths in succession, when one stops the breathing and applies the locks to compress and direct the energy, one should be checking on how the energy is being distributed, as to its quality, its surcharge and its effects on the part of the psyche it affects.

It is not enough to do a breath infusion practice, and then space out mentally or be enjoying towards the energy emotionally. The student should observe where the energy accumulated, where it intends to transit to, how compressed it is, as to whether the student can direct it or not, as to if it overpowers the core-self and causes loss of objectivity.

Is the energy going where you desire it to go? Does it resist your will?

Is the energy in a place which is even more desirable for it to be, then the place you intended to transit it to?

Does the energy reveal to you within the psyche a place which you were unaware of before?

~~~~~~~
The completion of the fifth stage of yoga, pratyahar sensual energy withdrawal, is not possible without inner focus into the breath-infused energy for tracking and limiting it.
Initially students have compulsive needs which keep them time bound and limited in the advancement of this practice. Those who came to do this practice with the motive of enjoying the energy, the way one enjoys eating sweet foods or sexual pleasures, should break off from treating the infused energy in that way and be objective to it more and more, day after day, so that the enjoyment rating is changed into being an observation in which the enjoyment is there just the same but it is not the primal focus.
Even if the student does not enjoy the enjoyment, still the enjoyment will be there. It will not run away.
This might be compared to a woman who wants to have a child and who during an act of intercourse to initiate that remains focused on the issue of developing a pregnancy despite the presence of the pleasure of the conception activity. It takes a slight, very slight, shift of focus with allowing one part of the incidence to just be without craving it, without greedily pursuing it.
During some phases of breath infusion, pleasure will be generated or manifested but all the same the student should not be focused for that but should be keeping track of the movements of the energy, its compression bulk, its light frequency and everything else about it which is not its pleasure-yield.
Those who came to do this practiced with the motive that it would cause their transfer to a trauma free environment, should also relax. They should focus on the distribution of the infused energy, its mixture with other energies which were lodged here or there in the psyche. The change in quality of the energy should be noted. Its insight yield should be observed. The mind’s ability to resist the higher levels and to continually return to the convention plane of thinking and imagining should be noted.
