What about at 8:36 where it is said:
Patanjali saw God as a means for the cessation of the mind. He did not see God as the creator, destroyer or maintainer of the universe. He was just a unit of consciousness which is free of the bondages of nature----prakriti. The theory of yoga is sankhya which is atheist in nature.
Somewhere in history yoga became associated with faith and deities! Otherwise it would be impossible to embrace both Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.

Quoting:
"I find myself taking parts of different traditions and benefitting from that."
I strongly agree with this sentiment!I have an awareness of my trajectory as such since always. And, I too can realize how well avoiding boxing myself in some tradition benefits me. This has always been the case whether I state it here or not.
I also appreciate the authenticity and transparency.
